President Barack Obama told the Today Show the United States is working to release a 26-year-old American woman from the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL). The terrorists captured the woman on August 30.

“We’re deploying all assets that we can, working with all the coalition allies that we can to identify their locations,” he said. “We’re in very close contact with her family, trying to keep them updated. Obviously, this is something that is heartbreaking for families. And our obligation is to make sure that we do anything we can to try to make sure that any American citizen is rescued from this situation.”

The family requested that the media not release the woman’s identity. Authorities believe she is the only American left with the Islamic State. The terrorists beheaded journalist James Foley in August and also aid worker Peter Kassig in November. The group beheaded Japanese journalist Kenji Goto on Saturday. They also burned alive Jordanian pilot Mu’ath al-Kaseasbeh and released the video on Tuesday.

The Islamic State offered to swap Goto for failed suicide bomber Sajida al-Rishawi, who is on death row in Jordan. However, Jordan demanded they release al-Kaseasbeh for al-Rishawi. Since the terrorists murdered the pilot, Jordan announced they will execute al-Rishawi on Wednesday for her participation in an attack on the Radisson Hotel in Amman in 2005.

Just watched these (I have high tolerance for human body parts/etc... could be a surgeon I guess). One thing I'd like to know (supposedly they were from rich families, not from some bums) - what have happened in their upbringing, or maybe it is inherited, to go to these extremes for "experience". Really disturbing public. One can only wonder - how many people wal around with traits like that. I guess quite a lot.

Fact of the matter is Sweden openly harbors and supports ISIS terrorist. Sweden want them to return after terrorist training and terror activity from who knows where, house them, shower them with money and tailor make a career for them while being free to leave and come back as they please to continue their war for ISIS.

And what do the Swedes do? They keep voting for it.

So I don't know which is the biggest terror nation at this point and who should get the brunt of the war against terror.

As for ISIS, they did this to intimidate and cause more fear. The beheadings have lost their shock factor so they now have to think of new execution methods so they maintain a terrifying image. They are probably getting a bit desperate too since they are also suffering major deaths, in both air strikes and in ground battles.

I don't see them lasting much longer tbh. They over rate their strength and have made too many powerful enemies. I think even the locals will turn against them eventually even if all the other nations don't interfere.

Their members will scatter once they start suffering serious losses but only for a similar group to emerge in a few years. And this process will keep repeating.

Obama's foreign policy blunders are one part incompetence and another part disinterest. The Obama administration is focused almost entirely on pushing it's domestic policy.

The reason the cycle continues is because the people don't disagree with isis in terms of fundamental beliefs, goals and probably even methods. It's like shareholders firing the CEO and board members of a corporation because they don't like their management style.
