Sadly, there will always be a paying audience for these craptastic remakes and they keep pumping them out, ruining the franchises.

The original movie still sends shivers down my spine.

It was the little girl and her voice - "mommy - where are you" - wasn't about special effects at all.

I don't see how they can top it. Maybe they will - but the original was a masterpiece and the sequels were good too.

John Carpenter's 'The Thing' is a classic.

But I share your opinion, in most cases it's better to just let a classic be instead of trying to refresh it for a new audience.

The new one couldn't compare one bit to Carpenter's Classic.

Thing from Another World was crap compared to Carpenter's version as well, (even though Zeb McCahan played the Thing in it)

Plenty more, I'm sure, but in most cases, the original didn't get it right the first time. That's the difference. If the first was already great, then the remake is just cashing in on younger (impatient/distracted/mindless) viewers.
