There are better films, sure, but none more entertaining. Quint's monologue is up there with the best scenes in moviedom.

JAWS 2 was pretty good too.    JAWS 3D was just awful and the special effects were laughable.    JAWS The Revenge took it way out there...  especially, the shark growling like Godzilla and following them all the way to the Bahamas.. lol

Happens, bro. Steer clear of the risky beaches is all. Fucking movie had hunters by the hundreds going out, killing whites. Australians, mostly. Attacks are incredibly rare, I've studied this shit since I was seven.

Majority, if not all, are unintentional. Whites don't eat people; they only attack mistakingly when they confuse people for pinnipeds. Visual hunters, as far as we know.

Ah, one and done. Passable at best. Very few sequels are worthy of the original. Godfather 2, Terminator 2, Aliens, Silence of the Lambs being obvious exceptions.

I think some attacks are intentional. Let's face it...there's not as much food for them. More people mean more fishing going on and they are going after humans because they are hungry!

If a shark wanted to eat a human there would be nothing left. The fact that they bite and do not devour leads me to suspect that sharks do not hunt humans for food. Either way easy enough to prevent, stay out of the water......

The film skeered me outta the water forty years ago.  The book's opening chapter was terrifying in and of itself.  I read the entire book in a few hours.  Skeeery indeed.

My co workers dad was one of the pilots in the PBYs that came to rescue what was left of the men from the
Wreckage of the USS Indianapolis. I could not imagine what those men lived through, everything the navy taught them about sharks was way off Mark.

Meat is meat.  Wild animals cannot afford to be finicky.  They don't have the developed taste buds of humans. Everyone heard of man eating tigers, crocodiles, polar bears.  Indianapolis is a good example,   Those sharks were having a buffet. If a carnivore is bigger than you, it will eat you.

Jaws is a classic. The scene where Quint tells the story of the Indianapolis is brillant. John Millius worked on that scene.
