UFC/MMA- Why have weightclasses?
« on: February 10, 2015, 02:16:39 PM »
Early UFC was better when there was no weightclasses.

I mean this is a simulated deathmatch! In a real life deathmatch hand to hand there is no weightclasses.

Honestly these little shits at 150-200lbs can go fuck themselves thinking they are tough, when they know deep down that they don't have the balls to fight the bigger and better guys.  :D Weightclasses in any sport is stupid tbh. Let the best man win.

Why stop there?

Let them bring pistols to the cage for even more realism.

I, too, love the old UFC. But I see the need for weight classes, with the high level of competition now, too many guys would get beaten up too badly if they weren't in place.

Also, I figure to get clearances from various insurance companies and athletic commissions, the weight class rules have to be followed.

Still -

.

I miss the old early 90's rules.

MAXX.

Back then (when the Gracies owned it), it was definately a contest to see "Who the toughest man was", nowadays though, under the Fertittas, it has been turned into a competitive sport.

Which makes it more lucrative in a monetary sense.

And that's what the Fertittas is all about, making money.

I think that the UFC should have three weight classes:

150 and under
200 and under
250 and under

They can make so much more money / sell so much more merchandise / create hype with several divisions and several champions instead of just having one "Toughest Man Alive" :D

UFC went in the right direction sure, but with that said, i wouldn't mind one organization that got rid of weightclasses but instead had three Age-divisions.

0-25 years of age,
26-50 years of age.
51-Geriatric.

In the end though, it's all about who's the bigger man.

Why not combine fighting with armwrestling...

One VS One? Teamfights is where it's at!

Why not add Obstacles...

He kind of ruins it when he opens his mouth but I'd pay top dollar to see that guy walk right into a Planet Fitness and start working out without saying a word.

Was better when there were no weight classes.

Now it's just two men fucking, essentially.

Fights can be odd even with weightclasses
