Its such a pet peeve when people refer to their cars, boats, etc, with the word "her." 
As though its some living entity. "Ive had her for 20 years. Shes my baby." Okay, get a grip on reality. 
Its something of a nautical tradition or so my father told me and he had command of three vessels when he was in the Navy. But I can see your point of view because sometimes some things can reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

When taken too far the personification of inanimate objects is one of those things.
