I did that very thing this morning. I drove around an area that I lived back in 2004. If possible; I recommend doing so. It's mentally refreshing & therapeutic to remember where you once were and to see the progress that you've made. As I drove, I actually thought about people and situations that had not crossed my mind in years.

I used to jog past my old house I lived in when I was a real little kid.

Good stuff. Care to give some more details and specific thoughts on your trip down memory lane.

FYI, as you get older, this kind of "trip" becomes more meaningful.

I've done this with visiting gyms on a guest pass,  I used to train at. That can be pretty cool.

Well I did not plan to go for a long drive today. I was in my car driving. On a road that I've driven down countless times.

I just felt sick of always driving down the same roads to & from work.... to & from stores.. to & from the gym... so I jumped on the highway instead. And got out of my normal pattern. I drove about south for roughly 50 minutes.

I drove by the place where I used to live, the mall where I used to shop, the creek that I used to go fishing in... and the mental asylum that I escaped from (kidding).

There is a good article written by Henry Seidman titled, "The Longing for Home." Its about our strong desire to go back to our original homes/locations where we were raised.

I often think about where I was raised the first 12 years of my life, before I moved away. Its both nostalgic and sad.

Childhood is weird, at least for me. There are so many fond memories but also so many sad ones.  :'(

as a getbigger, sometimes I fly by the smaller island I owned as a young child.

terrifying to think some people live like that... small island with just a handful of servants.

Driving by my childhood home made me realize I needed to quit my job, that I hated. I remembered how bad it sacked where we lived and I felt so powerless back then,  afterwords I was realized how short life is.

i smell a sitcom!

Dude rents the guest house from a rich guy... rich guy has no idea the renter used to be married to his new wife... the lease is ironclad so he can't be kicked out... and hilarity ensues!   imagine the hi-jinks as our gnarly renter bangs his ex's friends, plays pranks, makes cock imprints in playdoh and leaves them all over the house, etc.

An ex wife that bangs everyone? Hmmm, sounds all too familiar?  ;D

we need a show called Howard's Ex's, where, by some weird twist of fate, all of your ex's and you are locked in an underground subway station during a nuclear apocalypse.  It starts with fear, then petty arguments, then you have to choose which one to kill and eat.  Could be great television!

"5-10 years ago"   You must be awfully young, as 5-10 years is not a long span of time to be reminiscing about anything.  Try it when you get in your 40's.  Completely different experience.
