I did that very thing this morning. I drove around an area that I lived back in 2004. If possible; I recommend doing so. It's mentally refreshing & therapeutic to remember where you once were and to see the progress that you've made. As I drove, I actually thought about people and situations that had not crossed my mind in years.

I like doing this as well....I feel the way you describd but I also had a sense of sadness and loss for the way things used to be....life seemed so simple then

I do that alot.i also go back to all the roads i used to drive and hang out on when i was 16-21.Its fun.

I've done this with visiting gyms on a guest pass, I used to train at. That can be pretty cool.

Well I did not plan to go for a long drive today. I was in my car driving. On a road that I've driven down countless times.

I just felt sick of always driving down the same roads to & from work.... to & from stores.. to & from the gym... so I jumped on the highway instead. And got out of my normal pattern. I drove about south for roughly 50 minutes.

I drove by the place where I used to live, the mall where I used to shop, the creek that I used to go fishing in... and the mental asylum that I escaped from (kidding).

There is a good article written by Henry Seidman titled, "The Longing for Home." Its about our strong desire to go back to our original homes/locations where we were raised.

I often think about where I was raised the first 12 years of my life, before I moved away. Its both nostalgic and sad.

as a getbigger, sometimes I fly by the smaller island I owned as a young child.

Driving by my childhood home made me realize I needed to quit my job, that I hated. I remembered how bad it sacked where we lived and I felt so powerless back then, afterwords I was realized how short life is.

Unless...you lived in a house overlooking the lake with a guest house, pool, 2 garages...that the ex now lives in..

"5-10 years ago" You must be awfully young, as 5-10 years is not a long span of time to be reminiscing about anything. Try it when you get in your 40's. Completely different experience.
