insulin is strange and hard to predict
« on: February 18, 2015, 06:44:09 AM »
Usually shoot aroun 10-15ius twice a day

just had 10 ius around an hour after a 150g carb shake - shaking like a girl 3 hours later so had another 150g carb shake.

some days il eat alot less carbs but get no sign of hypo.

however the days before today my carb intake has been alot less.

1 hour after a carb shake? what did u expect

i take my shake 40mins AFTER an insulin shot

if you had a shake, then after 60 minutes your natural insulin is gonna be dropping again already and blood sugar will be cleared
if you inject insulin then of course youre gonna go hypo.

shooting insulin after eating is completely pointless imo since it takes 30min to even begin lowering your blood sugar.
by then your naturally secreted insulin has already done the job

Agreed, Ive went hypo twice and I cant pinpoint why, the days I went hypo I wasnt lacking carbs and had taken same doseage/carbs etc other days with no issues at all.

ive spoke to a few people who suggest its the lack of carbs the last few day thats decreased glycogen in the muscle.

Also i dont see any difference in taking insulin just before eating or just after.

all the guys i train with we all take it straight after meals. even if you have released your own insulin, the insuilin that you have injected is still pusghing the nutrients.

its doesnt just go nahh not gna do anything now coz hes relieased his natty slin lol

shooting with a meal or directly after is different than an hour later

especially if you only had a shake (probably with whey and dextrose huh? dextrose is pretty much completely out of your blood after 1 hour)

you can even get natty hypoglycemia because of that (reactive hypoglycemia)

so if you have a fast acting shake and then shoot insulin an hour later there are essentially NO NUTRIENTS LEFT to push into the muscle lol
there is your answer ;)

insulin is not hard to predict at all unless your insulin sensitivity or your activity level (while the slin is active) drastically changes
