Fisherman catches impossibly large 280-pound catfish

Italian fisherman Dino Ferrari hooked a 280-pound, 8-foot-9-inch catfish last Thursday on Italy's Po River, which is believed to be one of the largest ever caught with a rod and reel.

Wish he'd throw it back.  Same happened when someone caught a super big lobster.  They claim it would take 30 years to get that big.  Pissed me off that they didn't throw it back in.

If thats real, thats amazing specimen and makes me wonder what is out there. Awesome that he let it go. Could be 350lbs some day. Most red necks woudl have killed and stuffed. Good to see technology like cameras is allowing people to return the animal

I'm poor as fuck. If I got that much fish I'd put it in 200g pieces and put them in the freezer. So much money saved. Would last me at least 158 days. All I'd buy from the grocerie store would be lemons, onions, some greens and soup ingredients.

Smaller fish usually taste better I would throw it back if it is still alive.

I wonder what a catfish that size would eat? Looks like it could easily eat a 24" Largemouth Bass

Well, usually catfish eat things that on the bottom of the lake/river.

I have read that they don't have the best eye sight. But they have an amazing sense of smell.

So I don't know how well it would do hunting down other fish.

I believe catfish never stop growing. As long as they live long enough they can get huge.
