A bunch of other message boards have a real-time chatroom feature that would have the potential to be hilarious here. Sorta like a place where Getbig gladiators could "take it to chat" and have it out in real time.

The rules of chat could be that it isn't archived and isn't moderated but what happens there STAYS there and doesn't bleed out into the threads.

Could be fun.

Yeah. SMF has various "mods" that do real-time chat. It would require the site's tech staff to install it, but once up and running, it should be fully configurable. I am sure that some of the chatroom mods have the ability to restrict the users by their "rank" or whatever it's called in SMF-land.

I can do a bit of research if you'd like.

Chat was available a couple of years ago.. not a lot people used it..
maybe that is why it was taken off ..
There was also a gameroom

I think when we did have it, IP addresses were visible and things did bleed into threads.

The first, I think that we can fix and then second....well, that's Getbig. The way I see it is that the crap in threads should bleed into the Thunderdome and not the other way around.

If there is any interest, hook me up with the "tech guy" and I will help out. I will even use my real name (with him), so he can check and see that I am on the up and up.

The use of third parties seems sufficient.

e.g., anyone who wants to come at me should enter the cryptocat chatroom "ThunderdomeAscendant"; the comms are encrypted so the government can't use anything as evidence later or otherwise steal the particulars of Basile's quantum supination secrets.
