Strange. Ability to run in an open field and to take a snap and run through gaps designed by the O-line are two different things.

Yeah, I think he's going to be in for a rude awakening. However, Pete Carroll began introducing rugby-type tackling for high school, college and pro athletes to reduce the amount of concussions so if anything this guy might be very effective if somewhere on defense.

NFL is so precise and timing is everything. It doesn't translate well going from Rugby which is more open to NFL. A couple fumbles and he's on the bench.

This isn't unusual, professional teams sign great athletes from other sports that's never played the sport that they were drafted to all the time. The idea is their talent will translate well. Can't think of a better comparison of skill set than Rugby & Football, makes sense to me.

even if he gets beaten and washes out, he'll still be THE rugby guy that had a turn in the NFL. and it might work, ya never know. He's a world class athlete, the best at what he does. I'd certainly say he has as much chance at success as the top 5 RBs drafted this year.

With pads these NFL players, some built like tanks get hits equlivalent to a mack truck and are taken out.

that's where coaching comes in. Antonio Gates of the chargers played basketball, switched to football for the NFL after realizing he wouldn't make the NBA. Shaq, Dave Winfield & numerous others got drafter by various NFL teams. Iverson got drafted to play in MLB. Several teams were interested in Bolt after the 2012 Olympics.

Rugby players & fans always point out that they don't wear pads, they also don't hit as hard as the NFL guys either.

Very good rugby player, can't see him making much impact in the NFL though. The sports are a lot more different than they appear.
