Looking like the Hero when you caused the mess

Why is it people can fuck up, cause a disaster, put others in danger then fix the issue they started and look like a Hero for it?  What is this mentality in cheering on people that caused the mess in the first place?

can you provide an example?

Are you referring to the QV and Goodrum break up?
