I checked my doctor chart online today and it listed me as Morbidly Obese. HAHAHA. yes, Obese with Abs. Why the fuck do doctors still use the BMI? Basically I need to be a holocaust survivior at my height to be considered normal. God forbid I actually have muscle weight.

The BMI is a good general indicator of appropriate bodyweight, it doesn't apply to morons on steroids and Growth Hormone.

Two weeks after my contest in 07' I had to give some info for my medical insurance. I was 5'7 and back up to like 203. no matter what I looked like, what my BMI was, I was classified as obese. I even sent pics. Needless to say my premiums went up an extra $100 mo.

I think the extra weight, muscle or fat isn't good for you.

Thats typical insurance companies doing everything in their power to bleed you dry. Shit, some insurance companies will give you a reduced rate if you dont smoke or you exercise. You would think they would want healthy and fit people, less money they have to shell out for people getting sick, needing surgeries, etc.

Happened to me to. Insurance didn't give a fuck how fit I was. They basically said. here's a number, get below it. Fuckers. I went to my HR and litteraly lifted my shirt and told the HR chick if my stomach looked obese. After cleaning up her vaginal juices she called the insurance and they made an exception.

Probably not for joints and general health it probably isn't. But then again I've known marathon runners who dropped dead of a heart attack in their 40's.

I agree with this, I think the human body prefers to be lean making it easier on the internals and producing greater endurance and fitness. Especially as you age. JMO

BMI doesn't apply to athletes, specifically bodybuilders which are the highest trained type of athlete.

Welcome to the club! Just made me laugh when I was looking at my lab test results and everything was in the normal range yet they listed Morbidly Obese. Fuckers. How many truly fat obese people have blood and urine all in the normal range?

BMI was never intended to assess the health of individuals. It is a marker for assessing or comparing populations.

For example:
- If you have 1000 people in a room, BMI will do a good job of telling you how many are obese by various definitions of obesity based on health/symptoms/physical function.
- It will not do a good job of telling you which of those 1000 people are the obese ones.
