That's not ripping on Dex, but I was joking when I said I thought he would win.

He was very smart to continue to compete, well after most of his competition from past years had already retired.

He was right. A weak line up means easy pickings for him. And now he is a 5X Arnold Classic winner. Beating Flex Wheeler's Arnold Classic wins.

If these guys had stepped up their game to Dex's level, chances are he wouldn't have said that, as he may not have placed well.

What about the fact that Dex was arguably the most streamlined out of the group? Dex is great, been near the top for a long time, but he still shouldn't be winning contests.

I am glad he did though. Maybe that will wake everyone up. Hell, Shawn and Kevin should make a comeback.

Weak line up is right. That's why you have Branch 2nd, and a relative new comer in Compton taking third. Good on Dexter for seeing the easy money.

He is, but if, a big if, Cedric came in tighter and the perennial "Can't get it done" Brandon Curry was in condition, Dex would have been placed lower. Both of those guys are genetically structurally better than Dex.

Add in if Kai would appear, then you have something else to contend with.

As for Dexter winning, it says that at least some judges are still rewarding a more classic physique.

Then again, Branch got second place.

Very strange to see Dexter first and someone like Branch second. Their physiques are night and day.

At the end of the day, it shows that the judges are not consistent in what they want. Either a classic, streamline physique, or a blocky, freaky looking physique.

genetically structurally better than dex?... dont think so.

dex's chest was down big time for this event, and still won.

his front DB is pretty much perfect- and IMO that pose should have a double points weighting as it really shows the flaws. you cant get away with a wide waist or narrow lats or flat chest etc in that pose.

it doesnt make sense that other poses can make up for a horrible FDB..and its been this way for years- guys winning entire shows on the strength of their back and/or arms muscularity.

and i blame this for the current pro's shape...loads of mass can make any pose, except the FDB, appear impressive.

loads of mass, around huge midsection etc gets noticed in the FDB.
