If I were at all a Yankee fan I would definitely use that as my new avatar.

It's ARod though, and I'm not that big a fan.

I'll just use it to annoy red sox fans, who will continue to belittle Arod about steroids, while conveniently ignoring Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz.

I thought that the sport was a ton better when there was juice everywhere. Canseco, McGwire and Sosa blasting dingers every third time at bat. I would be a hypocrite if I tried to "deplore" the use of PEDs in sports.

More PEDs, better sports. End of story.

I'm not that extreme, but I can say they don't bother me.   The greats are still the greats.  So many people used, but nobody matched the numbers Barry Bonds put up.

I always do either straight bar curls or ez bar curls every bicep workout. I have to admit I wonder if I'm wrong not to do the straight bar cable curl. Whenever I do them I really feel them more than barbell curls. With barbell curls the resistance disappears toward the end. It's a really incomplete movement. Using a low pulley connection the movement is working the bicep through a more complete range of motion.

not true- even with cable curls the end point is limited because of the way the arc is. The cable moves gradually closer to your elbow, which reduces the force felt at the bicep.

the only thing you need to determine the stress on the muscle is the distance that the load is away from the pivot. Force = mass x distance. with cable curls, if  you keep moving your elbow's position relative to the weight, you can control where the force is. you dont have that choice with a bar if your elbows are held in one position. Arnold got it right with cheat curls. He worked out that by getting the bar to a point where the bicep was exposed to maximum stress, he could skip the exposure to the mechanically disadvantageous first third of the rep.

the wrist position is the real difference. Bar bells give you no choice, so unless you are particularly suited to having your palm pronated the way the bar is, you wont feel as comfortable or in control.

Bonds had Coleman-esque gear response genetics.

From Vince ...

Vince invented the Body Drag Curl, but that video sucks.

This one is better, except his grip is too wide. You really have to drag the bar up against your body, elbows back, not to the sides.

I agree with you 100% and bringing the bar to at most chest height. Key is as you rightly wrote bringing your elbows back.

Yes, I like close-grip pullups and ring pullups because I supinate on the way up. I love pullups and will do over a hundred in a back workout easy, some weighted, some just body weight. I have decent biceps, crappy triceps.

Ring rows with supination are good too.

Chin ups are the only bicep exercise I do. Stopped doing any type of curl over 4 years back.

Fuck, it's curls/biceps.

This isn't something important like squats, deadlifts or presses.

Pick up SOMETHING and curl the thing.

Hell, how anyone can go to a gym to just train biceps is beyond me. Even when I was a competitive bodybuilder, I would never have dedicated an entire session to only biceps.

How can you even muster the motivation to leave your house?!

Just grab some soup cans and curl those or something. Yeesh.

i once trained biceps and supersetted with triceps, took me a good 3-4 weeks before i was ready for another workout, not taxing my central nervous system like that these days but when i was younger i was quite the madman
