Raphael, Manion and Graham all allow the drugs because they fear the pros would go elsewhere to compete.

Was this presentation about PEDs in the pro IFBB or the amateur?  Santonja is the president of IFBB amateur, which is a different corporation than IFBB pro, which Manion owns.

Either way it doesn't make sense.  The whole purpose of the Arnold Amateurs US/EU/BR/AU is that they don't even pretend that they're drug tested like the IFBB Worlds, regionals, and nationals.

I actually think they're somewhat serious about this issue but here's the problem. What they're actually saying is, "We need to lessen the doping in bodybuilding".  They don't really mean eliminate it in their heart of hearts.  What Arnold probably says in a private conversation is: 1) The guts look ugly 2) the bodybuilders are getting themselves in trouble and having health problems 3) these guys aren't good role models any more and our image is suffering.

The problem is that it has to be YES or NO to really go anywhere.  How do you manage anything in between.  Might as well just leave it a YES and let bodybuilding and its fans decide this on their own.

Didn't Arnold have heart surgery at a fairly young age??  ::)

Taking any PEDs = mental illness, every last one of them is terrible for your health and you lose everything and more when you finally come off. Once you start injecting large doses of testosterone way beyond what a doctor would ever give then you lose a part of yourself which can never be reclaimed.

My guess is that this stunt anti-doping meeting was done because in Australia like Sweden there is a heavier negative focus on PEDs. I doubt they would have bothered with this presentation if the contest was in Mexico or the Middle East.

P.S to the previous poster Vince, Steve. R took the juice and his body was well beyond the natural limits. Eugene Sandow is the only well known 100% sure example we have of what is attainable truly natural.

I agree with your post.
It would be nice if the IFBB could decide based on what's best for bodybuilding.

However, the LEGAL situation on steroid drugs,  trumps any personal opinion within official circles.
Not sure what the answer is???

Most PEDs, including anabolic steroids, are perfectly legal in most parts of the world.  If you can't get them over the counter, then you certainly can get them from a doctor.  Only in the US is it illegal for a doctor to prescribe performance enhancing drugs for cosmetic or sports performance enhancement.

Simply: if U don't like Ifbb & Ifbb Pro go for Inba,Nabba,Wff,........................6 or 7 BB organizations  in AU  ;)

Yeah right,  ::) Mr.Vince 2

Losers like Vince always blame others for theirs shitty BB life.

Ask Vince WHO or WHAT was stopping him (or others) from competing at Nabba Mr.Universe in '70's or WBBG/Wabba Mr.Worlds  :D

Suggestion: read Tony's gym biography  ;)
