You might want to check your bible to see who ACTUALLY is still "God's chosen people".

Its when they get free money.

Btw, I just heard that St. Patrick wasn't even Irish. He was from Great Britain.

They didnt even celebrate St Patrick's day in Ireland until 1903.

There are also more Irish people in America, then in Ireland.

 :D

In Boston, they invented an actual city holiday for Saint Paddy's so that the Irish could get drunk and not lose their jobs. It's "Evacuation Day". Supposedly when the Red Coats forced the evacuation of Boston, pure poppycock, but it remains even after being disproven.

My Irish wife refers to today as "amateur hour"

I actually took the day off work.  8)

Will be having corn beef and cabbage and then going to drink beer. Taking off Wednesday too going to a friends house to bbq (he bought half a cow, literally) and drink a lot more beer.

I'm having corn beef and cabbage as well.  It's in the slow cooker right now.

I am at work, but someone should post the history of St. Patrick in this thread.

As well as some of the myths associated with the holiday.

I bet it is an interesting read.

I'll say things that sound pithy but don't really mean anything and no one can be sure if I'm addressing them or talking to myself as I let my intonation fall.   Rather than rise.  At the end of questions.  And statements.  And phrases.

Oh would ya like a bit in ya then.  Gave me a pamphlet about evils of the drink I never read again.  Longest way round's the shortest way home.  Isn't it often so.

Yes, family is from Leitrim.

She doesn't think that her family needs any more reasons to get drunk.

She does owe me a trip to the family sod, which is still in the family's hands, apparently.
