What if we were able to use more than the 10% of our brain capacity?

Maybe thats the key to everything? The natural evolution into an alien mind.

That's a myth.  The brain doesn't work that way.

Not true.  Shizzo only uses .10% of his brain's capacity at all times.

Quality thread.

I have always thought that there was no way that the government could keep aliens a secret. They either dont exist, have not cared to make contact, or have the tech to remain completely undetected.

There aint shit the government would be able to do.
Don´t get me started on Aliens  ;D ...

Space Odyssey and Contact both strayed from the norm - no physical manifestation at all. Evolved into pure figureless intelligence.

Ever notice that through litterature, movies, paintings etc... That any form of monster or alien is represented as a mutation of a human being?  They usually have two arms, eyes, nose, mouth, head, shoulders etc...  Monsters or Aliens are just humans with some sort of change to their physique.  It seems that the human mind and imagination can't think of a creature that doesn't resemble a human in some form.

Proof.  Just think of a monster or alien in your head.  It will have a resemblance to a human.  our minds can't think of a creature that doesn't resemble something we already know.

I need to smoke less weed....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropomorphism

I found that this alien thing is purely civilizational related and keeps GOD CONCEPT ALIVE. Nietzsche was right. We killed god but in the same time, a new god was born to replace him. If monotheist religions gave the birth to god as we all know- powerful, make it rains, make it sunny and even get everyone what he deserves - now science killed this god and created a new one as it follow: An intelligent form living far a way, in our universe or in another universe and is more powerful than our specie, superior to us in all meaning and maybe WATCH US and maybe will comes and end our suffering by changing the world and destroying our governments.

Conclusion, humans will never leave spirituality and will believe something more powerful rules the universe. After all maybe it exists. God take new shapes, Uberman. Faith is still there. Sorry but your nihilism thesis related to faith is irrelevant now.

See two eyes.  Features similar to other animals.  We can't think beyond what we see in nature.  Why would an alien have eyes similar to creatures on earth?

Binocular vision. Of course, that means that the "alien" sees the exact same small swath of the electromagnetic spectrum as we do.

Always that was some kinda 'lazy humans' insult. Like if we tried harder, we could engage the other ninety.

Not to mention that even the tentacles may resemble the appendages of humans (arms). Used to grasp things, etc.

Seems like MOS tried to troll atheists with the spaghetti monster and failed.  ::) :'( :'(

Ok, maybe the percentage part is a myth. But what about child geniuses, savants, and other incredibly smart people? Surely they have a different wiring up there. What causes this?

The vast majority of alien life in the universe is probably very basic (ie. vegetative).

WHAT A STUPID THING TO SAY , how can you know that probably.

the laws of physics and biology are the same everywhere in the universe. Everywhere there s water and sunlight, there s probably the same kind of evolution that took place on earth going on. With bacterias, fishes, reptiles, mamals and so on.
