Warren Buffet's Daily Diet
« on: March 26, 2015, 11:30:10 AM »
Well known he must have a burger, fries, and coke for lunch. He either eats that for lunch or doesn't eat lunch at all.

(Reuters) - Following Warren Buffett's investment advice may be smart but nutritionists say that eating too many of the "junk-food" products made by companies he has invested in isn't quite as wise.

His move on Wednesday to inject Velveeta cheese, Jell-O, Lunchables, Oscar Mayer wieners, and Kool-Aid into his portfolio, stuffs an already amply supplied larder. The additions came from the acquisition of Kraft Foods Group Inc (KRFT.O) by H.J. Heinz Co, which is controlled by 3G Capital and Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (BRKa.N).

His larder already included everything from Burger King's BKCBK.UL Triple Whopper burgers, Coca-Cola soft drinks and Tim Horton donuts to See's Candies and Dairy Queen icecream Blizzards, as well as such Heinz brands as Tomato Ketchup, Ore-Ida fries, bagel bites and T.G.I. Friday's mozzarella sticks.

Altogether, Buffett is assembling one of the biggest ranges of snack food brands in the world. Heinz does say on its website that its global portfolio "is centered on nutritious foods made with tomatoes, beans, fruits and vegetables" but nutritionists still regard many of the products as closer to the junk-food category.

One of the world's most successful investors, the "Oracle of Omaha"does, though, eat what he invests in. The 84-year-old CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (BRKa.N) relishes a high-sugar, high-salt diet that is akin, he has said, to eating like a 6-year-old.

"If somebody told me that I live a year longer by eating nothing but broccoli and asparagus from now on ... every day will seem like as long. I'll stick with the Cheetos and the Coke," Buffett told CNBC in March 2010.

Calls and emails to Buffett's office were not returned and Buffett's business partner, Charlie Munger, 91, was not available for comment.

His favorite breakfast of Coke paired with Utz Potato Stix - and including a daily minimum of another four Cokes (with a Cherry Coke to end a particularly long day) - might send any child ping-ponging off the walls.

"I think we can emulate Warren in some ways but not in others," said Joanne Ikeda, nutritionist emeritus at University of California Berkeley. "He's got a devil-may-care attitude that perhaps helped him get ahead with finances. Some people are impervious to sickness."

Even during a visit to the Four Seasons restaurant in New York City in April 2014, Buffett ordered a dessert from Dairy Queen to top off his steak and Cherry Coke dinner. He had to settle for chocolate chip cookies.

And Berkshire Hathaway's annual investor meetings also involve a three-day gorging on portfolio delights by Buffett and the many thousands who attend.

"His attitude toward this kind of food is a little worrisome," said David Seres, MD, director of medical nutrition at the Columbia University Medical Center in New York, adding that he thinks such investments send the worst kind of message to America. "He is not what I would call an ideal role model in eating and his attitude toward nutrition in general."

However, on Wall Street there is a lot less concern. Financial analyst Tony Scherrer said Buffett has a pulse on Middle American eaters, and knows what appeals to most U.S. taste buds.

"Most of America is not in a spot where veggie trends are as ubiquitous as in the urban areas — think New York versus the Midwest," said Scherrer, director of research at Smead Capital Management.

He said the Heinz-Kraft deal is for a business that "generates prodigious amounts of free cash flow."

And Buffett's hunger for junk food companies may be far from sated.

He told Fortune magazine last month that he's talked to the management of Utz, the Pennsylvania-based snack maker, about potentially buying the company. And with Kraft now under his belt, Buffett could decide to literally drink his own Kool-Aid and push ahead with more such acquisitions.

The food police have been alerted, I'm sure.

While he invests in these companies that manufacture shit foods, because he knows there are 100s of millions of assholes who eat that shit, him saying that that's all he eats, is most likely lies, told as PR for those companies.

So he bought a company that made mistakes on the cheap? You sound like you know nothing about investing. Bitter ass tin foil hat moron lol. Buffett probably has more knowledge about the world and markets in his big toe than you do in your whole gutterfuck of a brain.

100% agree.  Total phony.  He has the loveable grandpa act down to a T.  Now he only "invests" in "too big to fail" financial companies where he receives a 5-10% coupon and/or has US government backing (with bailout guarantees).  Berkshire has gotten fined many times for criminal activity.  They make billions of dollars and pay 1-10 million dollar SEC fines - lol

Lol...Hundreds of people were talking about it before it went National...The best way to diffuse a story is to get out ahead of it and control it.

Even Pee Wee Herman was taught how to diffuse a situation...COINTELPRO 101

Doris Buffet. Warren's sister talks about being in a family with sever mental illness

Doris, Age 83, Family Depression

People may assume a famous name and wealth guarantee a ticket to Easy Street. But Doris Buffett, sister of Warren Buffett, knows otherwise. Today, she uses her wealth to help people, which brings her great joy. But her life wasn't always so happy. In her new book written by Michael Zitz, Giving It All Away, The Doris Buffett Story, she reveals her difficult upbringing and family struggles with depression.

Doris remembers growing up in what looked like a "model family" to the outside world. People saw her mother, Leila Buffett, as "bright and cheery and interested." Just the sort of person people want to get to know and be around-- but there was a darker private side --one caused by undiagnosed and untreated bipolar disorder.

As a very young child, Doris remembers listening for her mother's voice from her bed each morning after her father left for work. The way her mother sounded dictated how Doris approached the day: cherishing a few quiet moments of escape from her mother's tirades, or cowering in tears as her mother berated her in front of her younger siblings. Her brother, Warren, and sister, Bertie, both acknowledge that Doris was their mother's target. Yet, as is often the case in children of a verbally abusive parent, Doris says "I spent my entire life trying to please her. . . . It never did any good." Her mother's unrelenting criticism made Doris feel worthless. Every day, Leila told her she was stupid. As a result, Doris grew up thinking she came from the "ideal family, and I was just the crummy person that just happened to be born to them." She viewed her brother, Warren, and sister, Bertie, as "bright," and wondered, "how come I'm dumb?" She explains, "I had no concept of who I was. I could tell you what was wrong with me from my straight hair to my big feet."

Believing badly of herself contributed to Doris marrying a man with equally low self-esteem who was depressed. His mother was an alcoholic, and his father had taken his life. Doris says, "He just wasn't equipped to deal with the real world." They had three children and he became unemployed, unable to function and go to work. Doris later realized all they had in common was that they were escaping from their mothers.

Doris tried to understand her family's dysfunction and find a way to make sense of her mother's behavior. She once created a family tree on which she placed yellow, red and blue circles for histories that included such things as suicide, mental hospital stays and drug use. "By the time I finished, it looked like a Christmas tree," says Doris.

Despite the Buffett family creed to "never, never admit needing help," Doris did see a psychiatrist after her father's death. He diagnosed her with depression, and helped her recognize that as children who felt powerless, she and her siblings never spoke out about the misery in their home. Doris realizes now that her mother's threats of sending her away to an orphanage were attempts to control her. Doris believes that if there had been some way to "bring it out in the open," particularly her mother's problems, her family might have been helped.

Now in her golden years, Doris Buffett is helping others to find success and happiness much earlier in life than she did. Doris's organization, The Sunshine Lady Foundation, Inc., provides scholarships to individuals who have found themselves in dire straits through no real fault of their own. Doris Buffett, derives great joy in her role as the sunshine lady, and is known as a fairy godmother of sorts, to people who may have suffered at the hands of others—often due to undiagnosed, untreated mental illness.

Many of the people Doris's foundation helps, too, suffer from depression, just as Doris did. She helps domestic violence victims gain self-esteem, earn a degree, and make something of their lives. Statistics show that approximately 60% of battered women suffer depression, and 25 to 50% attempt suicide. But with Doris's help, these women who "slither in under a safe house door thinking they're worthless . . . who've been told they're stupid every day of their lives" move into happy, successful lives.

"Helping people takes some capital," she says, "and the payoff is changed lives. Then their children's lives are changed, too, so it's an endless multiplier." She admits that, as has been the case throughout her own life, every day these women fight the effects of their past abuse. But now, she says, "They have a degree. And they are all turning into nurses and teachers and counselors, and you know they're all giving back in one way or another."

This giving back element is a big part of The Sunshine Lady philosophy. Foundation beneficiaries are asked to pay forward the help they've received. "What we're sowing is faith in yourself and faith in humankind," Doris says. She has found a niche that brings joy, self-worth, hope and meaning to her life.
