Generally there's an upgrade every two years that the carrier subsidizes.  Also, trade in of old phones.

Haven't upgraded my phone in a couple of years as I just cant be bothered with the hassle of a new phone. Is there really much difference between a top of the line smart phone from 2 years ago and a new one now?

Not really. I have an iPhone 4s and I can pretty much do everything on it that most other iPhones can do.

One talk show had a person go on the street and bring along an iPhone 4s. They had someone stop people in the street and present it as the iPhone 6. People were like, "Oh yeah, it looks much smaller and sleeker. The iPhone 6 is clearly better."  :D

Yeah, just checked EBAY, 64g 6+ are about $750.   With trade in and subsidy should have been $300-400.

Figured it would be something along those lines. I wonder what the next big innovation with smart phones will be. The curved screens seem just to be a gimmick.

I really liked the idea of a built in projector, but the quality of LED projectors just aren't good enough yet. Also it might work better as a plug in accessory then actually being built in.
