Woodstock!
« on: April 01, 2015, 09:12:37 AM »
No, I wasn't there, but over the weekend, I was watching a documentary about it. Wanted to see Jimi Hendricks specifically. I noticed something. There weren't any fat people in the crowd? None? Today, everywhere I go, there are tons of porkers. Something has changed for the worse in the American diet. That change is carbs. Back then, no one ate anywhere near the amount of carbs, that are being consumed today.

I think people just ate a lot less generally. Not just carbs, but overall calories.

No computers or computer games. TV only had 7 channels in 1969. People were out more.  Very little fast food and no mircrowaves for home fast food. You wanted something hot you had to make and cook it. People really ate 2 or 3 meals a day. Now it's get a snack every hour.

I believe this is true....my parents and grandparents and great grandparents have all said that my generation began eating a lot more food and processed foods.....results are hard to deny.

They did eat carbs, but they expended waaaay more energy despite that consumption.   Certainly there were fat people in their generations, but far less of them.....it's an epidemic.

Like some have said, it was calories overall. Most people ate cookies, milk, whatever was made, etc. They just didn't eat as much. Shoots down a whole lot of dietary trends nowadays when the majority back then were not overweight yet ate a lot of different "taboo" foods.

It was the HFCS, and carb loading nonsense, and the low fat diet horse shit, that caused the obesity, and Type II Diabetes epidemic. Those were the changes that took place in the 1970s, that made everyone fat and sick.

Remember the BS campaign that the corn industry started about Sugar is Sugar but never refered to it as HFCS but Corn Sugar.  Fuckers.  Some of these industries are just the Devil themselves.

Not the same food as today. Today food is addictive, some guys are hooked to fast food ( KFC/Mcdo) and can't eat anything home made anymore. They are just addicted to the ketchups, chocolate etc

Then it's not safe to value obesity by looking at a woodstock concert where most of the people are doing drugs and rarely care for what to eat.

Also, a lot of work and travel was more physical than it is now, and past times were more physical also. Another thing is that the crowd was younger on average, with a fair share of junkies, etc.... so that probably tilts the average too.

Go to any rock concert today. You'll see all young people, stoned out of their minds, and fat as all hell. That's a fact. That's the reason that I posted about Woodstock. It was the contrast between then, and now. Everyone is fat today, where ever you go. You can see huge porkers today, that apparently didn't exist, back in the 1960s, unless they were in a circus side show.

It's just a simple thing, on average folks eat 500-750 cals more than they did in in the 1950's - 1960's, and at the same time physical activity has dropped.

They added carb calories. That's the problem.

Protien/Carbs, big whoop. The major thing is still calories in / calories out for the most part.

No! Total BS. It's carb calories that make you fat.

Then explain all the crackheads, street people, heavy labors, etc.... that live on regular food and still stay lean and many times muscular.

I'll buy that Protein feedings probably lead to a greater feeling of satiety in most, but the main promoter of leanness will still be calorie deficit.

The dirt balls don't eat at all. Just do drugs. They're on a death trip. Cut the carbs, cut the blubber. Total fact. Calories in/calories out is a misapplication of the laws of thermo-dymanics. It has no application to nutrition. Energy is only a part of dietary intake. Proteins and fats actually build and repair the body. Carbs just create fat.

Lots of saturated fats, preferably from animal sources.
