The danger of insulin is way overblown. It's simple, take in enough carbs to cover the slin. Working in the medical setting, trust me there are millions of diabetics, a lot of them aren't very bright, it is somewhat of a rarity to see hypoglycemic episodes. Sure if you're a total idiot, not prepared, and don't know how to read a slin syringe, then yeah, you might go hypo, but there are symptoms, you don't just feel great one minute then drop dead the next. When/if you feel the onset of hypoglycemia, then take in some simple sugar. Not very hard to do if you walk upright. Diuretics are simply not needed if you've dieted correctly and properly manipulated your sodium/water. You'll look worse if you use them typically.
