Lol! Bowe, Lewis, and Holyfield all beat Tyson.

Holyfield has more heart than any heavyweight I've seen. He had the best conditioning, more heart and an ability to recover from punches better than any heavyweight of that time.  Bowe has his number though. I would have loved to have seen Bowe/Lewis.  I think Bowe would have won.  Even though he ducked him. I think Tyson would have beaten Bowe though.

Bowe beat Tyson?!  ::) Lewis & Holyfield beat a declining Tyson, infact Lewis beat a Tyson that should have retired long before that bout.

Prime for prime i would say Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield.

Just my opinion.

Holyfield beat Tyson twice and not an old Tyson.

Too many Tyson worshippers he was an extremely entertaining can crusher. Serious heart and power stops Tyson.

Both Lewis and Holyfield are older than Tyson. So why do you give a pass to a "declining Tyson"? Its not like these guys were 10 years younger than Tyson.

Mike was an exciting fighter, but he usually seemed to struggle against elite competition.

Tyson is the ultimate "what if" fighter. What if his trainer/mentor didn't die? What if he didn't go to prison? Unfortunately, all we can go by is his results in the ring.

What about Riddick Bowe?  His only loss was to Holyfield in their 2nd fight by decision.  BUT, he never fought Tyson or Lewis.  He's the only guy that can decisively beat a young Holyfield. BTW, no doubt in my mind Holyfield was using PEDs at some point.

Imagine if Tyson made the transition into mma. With his short stocky explosive build he would pick up take down defense very fast. First murder in the octagon. I really think he would learn fast.

Sorry not trying a good thread.

Age isnt always a factor, there are far too many examples in sports that proves that. In boxing, ill use Hopkins. Just because hes older doesnt mean he isnt better. Linford Christie at 35 / 36 was blowing away the worlds best sprinters, Paolo Maldini approaching 40 was still one of the best defenders in the world at football.

All im saying is Tyson's prime lasted 2-3 years in his early 20's before he went into an evident decline, and yes he is the greatest "what if" in boxing.

As i said, its just my opinion. Doesnt mean you have to agree or disagree and it doesnt mean its right or wrong.

I will be honest, I never knew Bowes record was this good (43-1). They always portray Bowe as the huge underdog that beat Tyson, but not as a fantastic former champion in his own right.

I would actually have to put Tyson last amongst this group of fighters.

You're thinking Buster Douglas.  He lost to Holyfield. Bowe and Tyson never fought.

Lewis

Tyson

Bowe

Holyfield

Tyson is hard to place because he lost his spark. This is a tough, tough, list to make.

cant argue with that! But when you consider the external factors coming into the fight he was bound to lose to someone very soon during that period. His head just wasnt where it needed to be for that level.

BTW its worth pointing out that whilst Douglas was a HUGE underdog he was actually a very able, very decent boxer. Was ahead in the Tucker fight until he got caught. If only Bruno hadnt taken that punch from Lewis......

Agree it's a tough list, that's why I created it.  How do you have Tyson over Holyfield when they fought twice and Tyson loss both times.  The fight Tyson didn't bite Holyfieds ear in, Tyson lost decisively.

It's a bit of Tyson fan boy in me. I think if we'd have seen a fresh, younger Tyson, those would've been much better fights. Also, on crossover opponents they both had, I think Tyson had more decisive victories.
