They will look absolutely huge to a normal bloke not into bodybuilding.
when I was 15 or so I had this little gay men's health training book and thought the flexed arm on the front was huge, I found it again a few years later and the arm in the photo would be luck to be much over 13 inches

Too be fair, that guy has an athletic look that most guys strive for.
It's actually good if magazines use models who have builds that can be achieved naturally to accompany their training articles. It helps sets realistic goals among the readers. Having juiced up BB's to accompany training articles will just create further epic delusions among the readers as to what they can achieve.

Surprised the pages weren't stuck together like a schmoe protein brick.  If u still have it, have u considered selling it to MOB?

There are many guys starting to workout with completely unrealistic goals which ultimately lead to frustration.

That's a nice athletic body right there and most Average Joes with average genes, 40hrs of work per week, who still want to enjoy life and not live a 100% dedicated bodybuilding lifestyle would be very happy
to look anywhere close to that.

By that logic, every network should stop showing pro sports and cover recreational sport leagues?
Most people PAY to see the best overall athletes do incredible feats they could only dream of doing.

The IFBB should take to heart the recent advice from ARNOLD.
Start picking pro winners with physiques most would admire, instead of some freaky body.
They don't need to drug test or change bodybuilding. Just tweek the judging to reward the best physique.

Howard you did not get my point, I guess I did not made it clear enough.

I am not talking about pros ... no average guy watches the super bowl or the olympics thinking he will get to that level one day.

Same with bodybuilding... most guys who start to get into bb/fitness will look at a flex  / some.IFBB pro and think that he could look like that .. most would not even want to. But when they look at a Mens Health cover they think its a good goal for a natural guy since it is not one of those huge bodybuilders who take steroids but just a fit and athletic looking guy while the truth is most of those guys who are considered fitness models are on drugs too.

All I wanted to say is that the media created an unrealistic image of what an athletic and fit physique looks like which makes a lot of young guys doubt their own progress because they dont look like the underwear models after a couple of years. Who can blame them when you have front page articles like “get a beachbody in x weeks“ and 99% of the guys who do look great lying about drugs.

Do you understand what I am talking about and why I think that the guy in the picture IS imo a good choice for an article like that? I am not saying that this is the absolute maximum of natural development but setting your goals esy too high is not a good idea for 99% of people because ibstead of motivation they will only get frustration from comparing themselves to someone far superior.
