You have a better idea? Should there be no Law Enforcement? Almost every society has some form of law enforcement to enforce the laws of said society.
Better idea? Hell yeah, stop killing people! There should be law enforcement, that goes without saying.
What I am appalled at is at the belief that people can't tell the difference between good law enforcement and what we see in the USA. Cops here, by and large, SUCK. We know the following:
1. Cops have the 8th most dangerous job in America as of today;
2. Cops kill, roughly, about 1,200 civilians every year;
3. Civilians kill, roughly, 150 Cops per year;
4. There is ample evidence that Cops destroy evidence (turn off dashboard cams, delete personal private video files,
et cetera);
5. There is ample evidence that Cops plant evidence;
6. Bad police work is one of the biggest financial drains in counties' budgets, having to spend a great deal of money on either settling cases out of court or having to pay teams of lawyers insane amounts of money for the actions of, most times, a single person;
7. The judicial system is rigged to give Cops the benefit of the doubt;
8. Cops never reprimand other Cops when they see the other Cop doing something illegal or alegal (planting evidence, putting the handcuffs on a guy they just shot multiple times in the back,
et cetera);
9. Cops use very little common sense.
10. Cops now seem to be on "hunting" missions more than policing the streets. I know of AT LEAST 10 places in Yonkers where you can see prostitutes and drug dealers every night, yet county Cops seem strangely disinterested in them, choosing instead to "sit" on a local street and snap the first dumb ass that happens to be driving 11 mph over the speed limit or jumps a stop sign.
In summary, why are Cops so pissed off? What is wrong with American Cops? An American civilian is 8 times more likely to be killed by an armed officer of "The Law" than otherwise. Yet, they seem to have developed standard procedures for the whole of the US that would only make sense in the south Bronx at 3AM (extremely dangerous area of NYC). Their approach to civilian policing is, to say the least, hostile. I know back in the early 90s there was a very big initiative to militarize local law enforcement teams, but their tactics nowadays seem more like the tactics used in Fallujah in the early 90s than downtown LA or Chicago.
Are we seeing the beginnings of a police state? I mean... we're already seeing that
they are willing to do to American civilians what no American soldier would ever do.
Killed by police has lots more information about the bad cop epidemic in the US nowadays.
