Lol I'm sure he trains both ways power lifts and trains like a bb. Just how some bb enter power lifting meets. It's not that crazy if a concept to grasp
The russian training system incorporates bodybuilding exercises in their training regime. Hence why the Russian (and athletes following Russian system based programming) on average hold more upperbody muscle than say for example the Chinese or Bulgarians. Effectively though this is wasted muscle in the sense that weightlifting requires mostly a strong posterior chain and legs, the extra weight of muscles carried on the upperbody would thus be better spend on the lowerbody.
If he train for bodybuildingcontest the weiightliftincarrer is over. Those explosive weightlifting movements need daily practice if your on olympic lever. No way he can get back to weightlifting again. He will lose all the explosiv power training like a bodybuilder, and he will become clumsy compared to his early years!
If you watch Klokov lift over the years you'll have noticed he already lost a lot of explosive power and rather just muscles the weight up. This is simply a result of many years competing and training and happens with every lifter, look at for example Evgeny Chigishev; insanely strong yet slowed considerably as years progressed.
Klokov has stated that he's partaking in the bodybuilding competition just for fun, as he has friends who are active bodybuilders (Skoromny) and people always told him he had a good physique. As such this would be a one-off. The excessive muscle did affect his technique though, especially in the clean, but considering he's not in an active training camp to compete, this is irrelevant.
