Wasn't MD 270 pages of adverts?
MD at one time actually eclipsed 400 pages in each issue and is down to the 180-page range nowadays. Regardless of how many pages are in any particular print magazine, there has to be a certain percentage of ads to editorial for it to not be a loss before it even hits the newsstand.
So while it may have seemed as if it was "all ads" when it was 300-plus pages, the ratio was the same as it is now.
But no matter how many - or lack thereof - pages are in a magazine, the editorial has to be good for it to be worth picking up and even leafing through. What they are putting out now is utter shit and a shell of what it once was. That's the real issue.
