Heard a lot about Birdsong from some old time BB'ig vet's in SoCal. He did do male porn. Quite a few BB'ers around that era (and even today) did "extra" stuff to just get by. A few were even living out of their vans or couch surfing. Main diet canned tuna or high fat (excellent source of energy for workouts) content hamburger meat.
Most always seemed to be a women, or gay, to help them out in time of need. These were usually much older women...the younger one's never seemed to have any bucks. A very big money area along PCH, no doubt. Also been told he was quite the bible thumper and Jesus freak for a while. Don't know before or after Birdsong's porn days. ...may be both, life is funny in so many different ways.
Still had a lot of respect for Birdsong from all the old timers I heard talk about him. A top of the line BB'er, who just didn't seem to have that extra X factor that would take him to the upper levels, like Arnold, Sergio, Mentzer (Ray also), etc....not many BB'ers do.
Looking at the present picture of Birdsong, first thing noticed is the extreme length and pointed elbow. Which would suggest HGH overuse ..among other things.
