lol...so what does that mean...
the courts arent infallible...and they do have a vested interest in not admitting wrong doing on an institutional level...like thats a pretty weak argument.

I'll try to do some digging.. but I'll throw this out for balance.. Cops are about the most sued profession. Often times cities will settle a winnable case because the math tells them to do so. I know of 2 cases I have first hand knowledge of that were total BS but it would have cost more to fight it than to settle it. The settlements were around $100,000 each.. So I would guess some of that may not be valid cases. We've also had a few where the officer screwed the pooch and the pay out was because it was a valid claim.

Now imagine a mayor who openly tells cops to give criminals a safe place to break stuff, and consider the videoed team behind her that helps keep her city afloat.

Think she/they might be just a bit more apt to settle with "victims" than a city run by a slightly more competent, less biased group?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: BALTIMORE ‘THUGS’ NEED TO BE ‘TREATED LIKE CRIMINALS'

President Obama strongly condemned the riots in Baltimore, describing the looters that struck Baltimore last night as “thugs” who needed to be “treated as criminals.”

He responded to questions about the recent violence in Baltimore during a press conference this afternoon with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Obama praised community organizers in Baltimore who were protesting peacefully and working to clean up the mess made by “a handful of criminals and thugs who tore up the place.”

Obama’s answer to a question from the press on the Baltimore riots was 14 minutes long and included 6 major talking points. Obama apologized to Prime Minister Abe during his response, admitting that he was going long, but that he felt the need to address the issue because it was important.

“When individuals get crowbars and start prying open doors to loot, they’re not protesting. They’re not making a statement. They’re stealing,” he said. “When they burn down a building, they’re committing arson.”

“That is not a protest. That is not a statement,” he said referring to the violence in Baltimore last night.

... before continuing on to blame bad cops and a racist legal system to explain away all the troubles plaguing American blacks.

If the cop had no visible injuries except the almost severed spine, if the cop had been tasered and there were low rock walls with sharp edges next to him, if available video shows the injury likely occurred out in public and no one including the video recording bystander mentions an ass whoppin that had taken place... if no security cameras along the route that have been looked at show any indication of a beating.. I would probably be exactly where I am today.. wondering if it happened during the fall and no one realized it in time. I wouldn't jump to a murder conclusion at this point. Would you? 

When a suspect is in custody, it is the duty of the arresting officers to ensure that person is safely transported to jail, the hospital, etc. isn't it?  How on Earth could someone sustain an injury as severe as a severed spinal cord (no matter how it happened) without one cop making the effort to help?  

I know Gray had a long rap sheet.  I know Gray was considered to be scum, etc.  I get all that.  Still didn't deserve to get a beating or a life ending injury while in custody. That being said, I think the real reason the riot is going on is because the chief and mayor kept stalling when people wanted to know what actually happened.

They (the rioters) have every right to be angry.  I just don't get how killing the city in which you live is going to solve the problem, or make it better in the future?...... Bizarre behavior.....

It happens more often than not. However there are times when cops screw the pooch and go overboard. I wish city governments would adopt a no settlement policy unless they are willing to say the officers were wrong. Paying off someone when it's not deserved to save money sends the wrong message

I think thats irrelevant for them mostly.  Remember when the facts did come out with Derren Wilson and all the evidence and autopsy?  What did they do?  Make up their own and choose not to believe what really happened.


They will believe whatever they want and lie as they see fit.  I was watching the news last night and every single person they interviewed claimed to have been a victim of police brutality at one time or another.  You could easily see they were outright lying.  Hell, they may even believe it themselves despite it never happening.  Low Intelligence humans have perfected the art of deceiving themselves.

Problem is, it doesn't really matter. How long after 'Hands Up, Down Shoot' was proven to be bullshit (witnesses - mostly black, forensics, autopsy, etc.) did the chant continue. Worldwide, it continued. The city still burned. Investigation, facts, verdicts - truth just don't matter to many.

There is only one way to repair Baltimore's reputation but that involves a lot of ships and a logistics nightmare.

Seriously though, Baltimore has fallen into the wrong hands and is becoming just another city like Detroit or Newark or what have you.  Its not going in the right direction at all and there is no indication that its going to get better.
