1. I tend to side with the police on most of these issues. BUT, to me, it looked like he was beat senseless BEFORE he was put in that van ( * video of him being put in the van). The claim that he broke his own back/neck while shackled in the back is not credible. The guy killed was a drug dealer and petty criminal. His lifestyle and personal choices put him a bad situation with the cops in the first place. BUT, I don't think he deserved to get f'd up and killed over it.

2. The rioters and looters don't really care about justice. Most don't want to obey the law and live in a civil society.

Many dysfunctional people want to live in a "nice , safe, neighborhood." The problem is that if they move in the nice neighborhood, they have to start acting like the decent folks . If not, their own wacky behavior brings it down for everyone.

Which video, Howard? I saw him standing on van bumper or whatever as they put him inside. Didn't appear "beat senseless," but please post video.

Point 1 doesn't appear to be supported by the facts in this case.

Fraternal Order of Police: GRAY CHARGES DRIVEN BY ‘PUBLICITY,’ OFFICERS ‘DID NOTHING WRONG’

Michael Davey, an Attorney with the Fraternal Order of Police declared, “these officers did nothing wrong” and that charges brought against six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray are driven by “the publicity in this case” and “politics” at a press conference on Friday.

Baltimore FOP President Gene Ryan began the press conference by saying, “we are disappointed in the apparent rush to judgement, given the fact the investigation into this matter has not been concluded. Our officers, like every other American citizen, are entitled to due process. We will continue to support them throughout this judicial process, which we believe will result in a finding of innocence. We also promise all active duty officers that we will continue to work diligently to ensure that you will receive the necessary support from the FOP to enable you to complete your mission safely.” He also argued that “this decision to charge [these] officers is going to make our job even harder.”

Davey then stated, “in my 20 years — career as a law enforcement officer, and 16 years as an attorney, I have never seen such a hurried rush to file criminal charges, which I believe are driven by forces which are separate and apart from the application of law, and the facts of this case as we know them. No one condones police misconduct. This is especially true of the entire FOP membership, including my client, who was a 17-year veteran of this department, who has dedicated his life to serving the public. Let me state in no uncertain terms that Lt. Rice and all of the officers involved at all times acted reasonably, and in accordance with their training as Baltimore police officers. No officer injured Mr. Gray, caused harm to Mr. Gray, and they are truly saddened by his death. These officers did nothing wrong. As all of the facts surrounding this case come out in the appropriate forum, the officers’ lack of wrongdoing will be made abundantly clear. We believe that the actions taken today by the state’s attorney are an egregious rush to judgment, and we have grave concerns about the fairness [and] integrity of the prosecution of our officers. Let me reiterate two things, Lt. Rice and all of the officers are deeply affected by Mr. Gray’s passing, and that his injuries did not occur as a result of any action or inaction on the part of these officers. It is our intention to try this case in the courtroom, and not the media. These statements have been made in an effort to protect all of the officers from undue prejudicial effective publicity surrounding this case. We believe that these officers will be vindicated, as they have done nothing wrong.” Later, he said, “I can’t speculate as to what they did or didn’t do. I just find it very difficult that it’s not a rush to judgement when conducting a case in which someone has been charged with second degree murder they can wrap it up in two weeks.”

Towards the end of the press conference Davey stated that “politics” “that’s what getting us, I believe, here today.” “I believe that the publicity in this case is driving force to a rush to judgment, and causing this prosecution to move so quickly.”

During the question and answer period of the press conference, Davey conceded that there could have been a “failure in the policy.”

Maybe not manslaughter, I don't know yet but " they did nothing wrong " is a huge stretch.

No surprise, totally expected. Worse still now that we're aware of certain relationships involved in the official Baltimore players.

Jesus, REALLY noticing the extent of network bias and partisanship involved here. Used to think CNN was the least suspect of the three, but their coverage here is every bit as slanted as Fox.

No mention at all of these questionable relationships or rush to judgment, no dissenting opinions or guests, no outside, objective police sources, ridiculous. It's simply a promo for Baltimore government and hysterically ignorant protestors.

Is BBC the answer? Where the fuck do you turn for even a hint of legit journalism? Any f'n wonder we're so politically polarized here?

Michael Moore: 'Disarm The Police!'; 'We'll Survive'

Filmmaker Michael Moore has demanded that America disarms its police officers and releases every African-American incarcerated for 'drug crimes' or 'nonviolent offenses' in an aggressive Twitter rant.

Moore, 61, who directed and produced Fahrenheit 9/11, posted a series of angry tweets on Thursday following riots in Baltimore, Maryland, over the death of Freddie Gray, 25, while in police custody.

In the first of six posts, he told his 1.83million followers: 'Imprison u, shoot u, sever your spine, crush your larynx, send u to war, keep u poor, call u a thug, not let u vote. But u can sing for u.'

He quickly followed the tweet with the words: 'Here's my demand: I want every African-American currently incarcerated for drug "crimes" or nonviolent offenses released from prison today.'

Mugshots Released: 3 Hebrew Police Officers Indicted - Including Driver

Breitbart News delivers live coverage of the situation in Baltimore, MD after six police officers were indicted for the death of Freddie Gray. Whether that will satisfy protesters and prevent another night of violence and riots remains to be seen.

I was suspicious at first about this whole incident... seems like a freak accident with the bolt... but, the whole rough ride, lying about how many stops they took (4 not 3 as they said...though looters destroyed cctv at Korean shop)... can't say none of them acted without disregard. 2nd degree murder seems a harsh charge, and the riots are a piss take... excuse to rob and loot. That said, the cops did fuck up, the guy is dead and there was an effort at a cover up (apparently - why else lie re stops taken, why not restrain him in van...).

1 cop did the brake test on a man who was prone on the floor begging for medical attention.

5 cops saw him in dire shape, were told he was in bad shape, heard him ask for help, and did nothing, letting him die.

LOL - Do ANY of you Americans want cops like this in charge of your lives at ANY time?  Letting people die?  Brake tests while you're handcuffed on floor?

I'm sick that ANYONE would defend the cops here.

Why does it bother you people that some people may have a differing opinion on things?

Where does all this viciousness come from?

Say something of value!

he made "eye contact" with one of the cops, according to their statement.

They already say he wasn't doing anything wrong, but they saw him running so they decided to VIOLATE his rights and stop him.  Yes, police can't just randomly stop you for no reason.  It's called America.

They stopped him (illegally) since there was no probable cause.
They searched him (illegally) and found a LEGAL pocket knife.
They detained him (illegally) for the LEGAL knife.

They put him a police transport van and drove away.

Now, even if he's never injured, never begs for medical help, and never dies on their floor - Is ANYONE here doing to defend the fact the man never broke a law but was in cuffs, unable to breathe, begging for medical help?

I mean, he broke no law.  Nobody here can list ANY law the man broke.  His "running" isn't probable cause.  They had no legal reason to fck with this man.

Maybe he would like to put some of them up in his house and let some put caravans in the grounds of his house
