protein world advert that upset fatties has been banned

Fucked up

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned the controversial Protein World ad for misleading health claims but has also launched a 'social responsibility' probe.
The posters to promote the diet supplements caused outrage after they featuring a slender bikini-clad model alongside the line "Are you beach body ready?"

It led to many of the posters being defaced by commuters.

The ASA said in a statement: "[It has] launched an investigation to establish if it breaks harm and offence rules or is socially irresponsible.

"We will now carefully and objectively explore the complaints that have prompted concerns around body confidence and promptly publish our findings."

The campaign poster is set to come down in the next two days.

The ASA said: "Due to our concerns about a range of health and weight loss claims made in the ad," the ad cannot appear again in its current form.

"It's coming down in the next three days and, due to our concerns about a range of health and weight loss claims made in the ad, it can't appear again in its current form."

BS. Its not coming down because of its claims. Its coming down because a bunch of people bitched and moaned and had hurt feelings.

FACT!

Some person in the article wrote:

"I also felt sorry that they are so out of touch. They could make millions if they tuned into the future attitudes of bright young women who deserve to know they are perfect and incredible as they are - and deserve to place health above appearance."

Health and appearance go hand-in-hand. Of course its probably more important to be healthy, than "pretty." But people who are healthy and fit, tend to have better appearances and will more likely attract the opposite sex. We know that there is a link between mind and body. And appearance has a lot to do with psychological health. If you weigh 600 pounds, not only are you not physically healthy, but your appearance is not appealing, which is going to affect your mental health. Research consistently shows the link between obesity and depression. Thus, its almost impossible to place health above appearance, as there is most likely a strong positive correlation between the two. The two cannot be separated. Its just the way it is. But we are trying to be convinced that its ALL about health and has absolutely nothing to do with appearance, i.e., people are perfect and incredible the way they are.

appearance first, health second.

Again, they go hand-in-hand. Its almost impossible to place one on top of the other. I suspect that those who have the most appealing appearances via a healthy diet and exercise program, are probably the most healthiest and vice versa.

The fact of the matter is that when people lose A LOT of weight and become fit, what is the first thing they do: Go to the beach, wear a tanktop or bikini, buy that dress or shirt they always wanted, but could never fit into.

We need not be deluded that it is not about appearance. As stated, there is a direct link between appearance and psychological health.

I think its a misrepresentation to say its all about health.
