This is exactly the way I view things. Why would it affect me (or any other straight person) if two guys or two women decide to start a sexual relationship? I really don't understand why people think it will somehow affect them enough that they have to fight against it. The only reason I could imagine someone taking the time to bash gays is if they're in the closet themselves and want to show how straight they are to the world.

Actually, science has a good idea of what inspires psychopaths to kill. We can't say exactly what the perfect set of influences that leads someone to kill, as human behavior is very complex.  The perfect set of influences may be present in one person, which drives them to kill, while the same set of influences may be present in another person, who never kills anyone. Nonetheless, we have a pretty good understanding of what factors are related to extreme forms of violence.
