The only defense for Pats fans is: "Well, you can't PROVE IT".

But everyone knows, everyone knows, Brady was involved and knew he was cheating.   Only the biggest homer Pats fan would deny it at this point.  He's the top QB in the world, he admits he likes them deflated, his guys gave themselves nicknames and planned/executed the plan... and there are some people out there who deny it?

Just say "I dont care if he cheated, they can't prove it, and it doesn't make him any less great".   Don't do the "you can't prove it" becaue only a homer believes it now.
Who cares 240. You think that a derelict team like the Bucs is only a few PSI's away from being a team like the Patriots?

No. The Patriots are an elite team, who proved on multiple occasions (including the superbowl) that they can win with regulation balls as well.

I absolutely believe that they still win without touching the balls. It just happened to be Brady's preference.

They still beat Seattle with normal balls so you can't take that away from them.  Worst call in sports history. How Pete Carroll didn't get lynched is beyond me.

can we please just forget about that  :-[

of course not. The Pats are a great team and Brady is 1 of the greatest QB's ever. BUT that doesnt make their constant cheating ok. People are just sick of it and it doesnt help how smug Belichick always is.

I have already heard from multiple analysts in the last 20 minutes, that the deflated balls had no effect on the outcome of the games.

So some form of punishment will be levied regardless, and then we can move on.  I will say this though, if Brady (and possibly Belichick) have to miss multiple games next year, that will be a far greater advantage to the AFC East and the NFL, than a deflated football.

I will give you guys this: It was a small issue that Tom made bigger by lying.

The lying has become the bigger issue then the act itself. So he should take whatever punishment comes his way, and move on.

No impact on the outcome of the COLTS game.  That's never been in question.  It's just a statement defenders and homers make to deflect.

The facts are this:  Footballs were deliberately manipulated outside the league rules for an AFC championship game, and likely every other game that preceded it.

Of course the championships won't be taken back, but they sure are tarnished in the court of public perception.  This is just something the Pats and their fans will always have to deal with, and it's all the team's fault, be it players or ownership.

The games are played and won on the field. I have no problem with any of the Patriots championship seasons. They still had to earn the rings by beating the opposition.

Just remember what they did when "spygate" was uncovered. They went 18-0, and lost in the superbowl, with the league knowing that the Pats were now following the rules to the T.

Just like this year, The Pats coming off of controversy (albeit in a blowout) in the AFC title game, beat the Seahawks fair and square in the Superbowl.

Most of the outrage is hot air, and the fact that most people are fans of shit franchises, who could only dream of having the sustained success that the Patriots have enjoyed.

Of course you're biased, no issues there.

But, Pats likely didn't need to cheat each year they won the championship, but they did anyway.  And they haven't won any year without scandal.

Sucks for the fans, but it is what it is - part of the legacy and history.

Tom Brady is a helluva quarterback but with all this controversy it's hard to put him in the same light as the Aikmans, Montanas and Bradshaws of the past.

I am glad they have the rings now, because now I am a little nervous about the possible suspensions.

They could give Brady no games, or they could give him a 1-4 game suspension. Not to mention that they have not ruled out giving Belichick a game or two for shits and giggles, or about draft picks for next year.

I have a strange feeling that Goodell will go hard, after all of the talk about how he favors Kraft and the Patriots.  :-X

As much as I hated Seattle part of me was actually rooting for them because I didn't want to see Aikman get passed up in rings. 8)

Now that all this controversy is brewing, you better believe I'm going to jump on board!

Wait a minute.........I just heard that they tested 4 of the Colts game balls from the AFC championship game, and 3 out of the 4 came back underinflated as well.
link?  the yahoo story said all 12 of the Colts balls were legal when tested at halftime.

I think if he's been doing this for a long time - throwing a flat ball is a VERY good advantage in winning games all year round.  They're 12-4 instead of 10-6.  HUGE difference there with home field.  And seeing Gronk easily 1-hand paw catch all those passes in the rain lol... makes you wonder ;)

We've all played catch with a flat football.  SO easy to catch it.

So easy not to fumble too, which Pats RBs have been shown to excel at.

oh thats right too - I remember the stats about all these RBs that were practically fumble-free while in NE, but fumble machines before and after.

My FB feed is full of the brady-lovers "but they can't PROVE he knew" and "how would a QB even notice 10.5 PSI versus 13.5 PSI"   So silly!

I think they only tested 4 Colts footballs at halftime, and you know damn well that they made sure those would be fully inflated, because they were the ones who told the refs to check the balls.

I said that because Jackie Macmullan said something about the Colts balls being deflated too, on Around The Horn today.

Look 240, people have doctored baseballs, corked bats, used too much pine tar, used stickum, added extra curves to hockey sticks, and have taken PED's.  What Brady did (supposedly) did not contribute to extra wins.

Its all circumstantial in the end anyway.

Who gives a shit they blew the colts out by a huge margin, under inflated footballs had nothing to do with that.  Then they went and smoked the seahawks to ice the cake.  Why release that report now?  Why the controversial, "More likely than not" bullshit quote.  The NFL is just trying to drum up some attention in the lull now after the draft and before the training camp.

What Brady did (supposedly) did not contribute to extra wins.

Many Rbs have said flatter balls = fewer fumbles.
Many WRs have said flatter balls = more catches.

Fewer fumbles + more catches = more wins.  And it causes early leads where the Pats can run the ball and milk the clock and preserve a lead.  They probably beat the colts anyway, but wow, that early TD catch by Gronk, 1 hand fingertips in end zone?  I dont know if he gets that if the ball is 13 PSI and not 10 PSI.

3 1/2 months, 243 pages, who knows how much money was spent...
Conclusion...they may have deflated the footballs.

The ball is not flat. It has a little more give when you squeeze it.

People make it act like you could squeeze them like Nerf footballs.

Overblown.
