Was hoping the Steelers would win. Guess not. Wanted to see Brady cry like the phaggot he is. Lost all my respect for that douchebag.

#headsetgate

Pats had perfect headphones for 1st half.

Steelers had "bleed" with intermittent noises and channel noise from the Pats channel messing up their headset feeds for the first half, in which Pats took a nice big lead.

Another case of "they might have been leading anyway, but wow, those little fckups always go their way..."

Belicheat brought back that old 49ers trick to mess up headphones.

The first time electronic receivers were installed in Football helmets was in 1956.  A fan of the Cleveland Browns who was an engineer for General Electric installed a radio inside a football helmet that didn't interfere with the functioning of the helmet as a helmet.  However, he didn't pick the channel frequency well...Policemen in cars  who were there as security and traffic details accidentally discovered the scheme when they started picking up the coaching messages on their police-car radios.

The NFL banned it that same season...The ban stood until the 1990's...

Steelers had zero radio contct during 1st quarter.

Pats took a quick 14-0 lead.

Once the headphones started working, the steelers out scored them 21 to 14

This kinda stuff makes you wonder.  Patriots radio was on the coaches bandwidth.  Never and issue in preseason tho ;-)

Goin their history, just too much of a coincidence to just blame um...

Steelers coach was pissed.  Said every time they play in New England, they jam their headphones from coach to coach.

Mike tomlin actually called out the patriots for it!!

Modern helmet radios probably use the same channels used for wireless microphones.  There are two kinds of wireless microphones.

  • The ones with a license similar to CB radios...They use channels open to he public and limited power.  You can just buy a system and just turn it on.
  • The others have more restrictive licenses and have a channel assigned to it unique to that geographical location. You have to have a tech who knows what he is doing and can deal with applying for channels in every geographical location they will be operating in.

Using a transmitter to jam RF communications is...Federal...

In Houston one of the large industrial sweatshops on Brittmore Rd near Tanner Rd acquired a cell phone jammer to keep their employee's phones from working.  It took the Federal Communications Commission just three days to come down on their ass, confiscate the device, and fine them 20 thousand USD.

Except....the NFL operates all radios in the stadiums.

All it would take is a “scanner” with the appropriate bands to figure out which channels are being used.
Then use that knowledge to tune a jammer to take out whichever side you want to jam.  Both devices would fit in a woman’s purse, or a man’s windbreaker or the like.

It wouldn’t matter even if there is one tech for both sides.

When cell phones were analog…people would take scanners onto commuter trains going into New York City and listen in on other passengers conversing on their cell phones while they were riding in or out of town.

Let's be somewhat logical here...I know it's Getbig, but let's try. The Patriots are just coming off a 7 month nightmare and the NFL commissioner is clearly gunning for them; releasing all kinds of anonymously sourced stories.

Do you REALLY think that they're going to start fucking around with the NFL operated radios? By using a federally illegal jammer? (Cue 240: "you can't prove it DIDN'T happen, huh?")

You Patriots haters really need another hobby.

Not a Patriots hater, I care nothing about the NFL...But I am a telecom tech.  And this shit does indeed happen as I related in the story about the phone jammer.  I read about it in trade journals and the like.

Easy win for New England.

All the usual crybabies will invent some "reason" that the game "really doesn't count" of course.

It is now clear to me that the Patriots are solely responsible for every ill that befalls the earth. Thank you.

I wouldn't go that far, they're just more known as cheaters than champions at this point.

Unrelated, but kind of amazing how fast an article like that gets written and posted after a game.   Information age and all that.....

I read an article before the game about how the Steelers had a plan to "make Gronkowski earn every yard". Good thing...
