easy to digest pro powders? any advice welcome , thanks
« on: May 07, 2015, 11:12:09 AM »
Like some getbiggers I'd love use more pro powders but many are difficult to "digest" i.e. bathroom issues :-[
Too many current brands go right thru me and it's no fun.

Howard, you must be lactose intolerant?

If so, try those beef protein powders (Muscle Meds, etc), no lactose in those...

Chicken breasts, egg whites, lean meats.  Powders are for babies.  Still can't believe people fell for this protein powder bullshit.  The cheese makes selling off their waste at $50 a jug and people buy it.

If you have to drink a protein shake instead of eating whole food because of time, then you suck at scheduling your life.

No excuses.  Just wake up 20 minutes earlier or stay up 20 minutes later and prep your meals.  Even when I drank protein shakes I never had them outside of my home.  Not like I couldn't wait to have my protein.

Do you sleep more than 4-5 hours a night? Ever watch tv? Have unnecessary conversations with people? Look at unnecessary things like getbig?  ::)

Oh brother, the typical "Unlike you, I'm busy" contest. The busiest people in the world make it without relying on protein powders as meals, guess that means it's you.

I mentioned this before and got blasted. Lactose free skim milk can be had at any grocery store and it's cheap in bulk in Costco. I was blasted cause it's high in carbs.

Two stomach issues with whey protein. Supplements are not regulated so you can't trust anything on the label. I can't drink a lot of milk problems without the runs and stomach issues. Lately I have been seeing the past few years some makers of whey isolate are claiming they are just about lactose free.  Judging my stomach I would beg to differ.

Another problem is many can't digest a lot of the man made sweeteners that are used in protein powders.

I have used egg protein powder in the past and it's expensive just like whey isolate. Never used soy protein after hearing studies that say it increases estrogen and some that say it doesn't.

I don't use mega protein amounts.  So many of the studies contradict each other concerning the amount needed to stay in positive nitrogen retention. Frankly many of these studies are poorly designed and have a limited amount of participants. Also what constitutes someone as a weight trainer regarding a protein study? We all know some are hard core and some are just clowns in the gym wasting time. So many of the studies have an agenda of pushing protein to bodybuilders so protein sellers can use their "research."  In the 80's I read a couple of studies that said diets that bodybuilders would consider low protein is all that you need. Bill Pearl and couple of other good bodybuilders were actually vegetarians. Pearl ate eggs but not milk according to an interview I read except for occasionally using an egg/milk protein shake. I wouldn't doubt that a half a gram per pound of body weight is all any weight trainers need.

I know bodybuilding fans here couldn't care less about the best distance runners on earth the Kenyans and Ethiopians.  They run 26 sub 5 minute miles on a very low protein diet. Most bodybuilders couldn't run a half mile at sub 5 minute pace let alone 26 miles.

Milk is interesting.  Certain cultures can handle it better than others.  Euros for example seem to thrive off of milk where others can't.  I knew this scandanavian guy who was a big fucker.  6'6"  big muscular and not fat.  Super strong.  he would drink at least a gallon of whole milk a day.  If an Asian or Black were to drink that much they'd be in the hospital from an exploded colon.

I can handle a glass of milk and occasional yogurt. Having something like two yogurts, two glasses of milk and a milk based protein shake in a day would set me up for the runs and terrible pain. I'm 100% Hispanic.

I sometimes wonder if the milk issues are more to do with antibiotics and hormones in the milk.  Euros tend not to use it and you rarely hear all the issues with drinking milk.  Cheeses seem creamier and tastier, milk is thicker and tastes better.  In north America the milk is so polluted the majority of people can't stomach it.

Fell for it? In most cases it's cheaper then anything you are suggesting so I would call it good money management.
Also, you can't really say it's for babies if you eat just the whites from an egg...

I believe it's a genetic thing. Asians, Hispanics and Blacks have the most problems digesting lactose.

True. Most northern europeans can. I can drink gallons no problem, like water. And eat a a lot of "kvarg" mostly every day.
