Aaron is somewhat right in his assessment.  Dave did make a profit initially but it got eaten alive when he had to settle that lawsuit with that woman who had to have a liver transplant.  Not only did he have to pay out the ass, but major buyers immediately steered clear of carrying the Species Brand. 

What really hurts is that Dave no longer has the funds to get the quantity production runs on products.  As a result, he has to rely on other companies that will charge him even more for smaller runs whereas Aaron and PJ do.  For example, Blackstone Labs Isolation Whey Protein currently sells on their website for $44.99 for 30 servings whereas Species Isolyze Protein sells for 49.99 and you only get 22 servings.  Its the same story for other products where you get less from Species Nutrition and you end up paying more. 


Why would anyone pay 5 dollars more retail for 8 less servings???  Its the same situation for all of his products.  I was selling Isolyze for 42.50 but the overall profit was not worth even mentioning.  Dave needs to invest more money in getting higher production runs, simplify the flavor scheme, and reduce the cost for the fancy packaging.

Designer Whey and Muscle Milk have the money to buy multiple flavors at discount massive quantities.  Dave doesn't have that capital and has to sell less product for more money than his competitors....thus the reason he's not making any money.  He has to contend with keeping all of these flavors stocked.  

Not only that, any flavor other than chocolate and vanilla are more expensive to produce and that decreases your margins even further.  The good news for Dave is that he could sell more now that protein spiking has been exposed but he needs to clean up the sku's a bit.  Sell off all of the exotic flavors, get down to the 2 basic ones for better management, and buy the quantity discount that will increase his profit margin

Dave's not filming it because he'll be teaching attendees how to apply drug cycles for competitors.  Whey Protein was a low to no profit margin because companies were spiking their products causing price issues and forcing their competitors to reduce their prices.  Now that the prices are stabilizing back to proper pricing, its a great opportunity to make money in selling whey protein
