For the longest time, I was under the impression that people were generally decent because I am. I was in my late 20s before I realized that half the world is genuinely garbage and get off on making other people miserable. That is a characteristic I honestly don't understand, but once I realized and accepted it, I had no choice but to change how I interacted with the world.

Quote
The district manager Alexis emailed me last night wishing to apologize over the phone. I called her this morning as of 5/15/2015. Ms. Alexis sincerely apologized, clarified that Melissa is the shift supervisor although she claimed she is a manger, and Melissa is no longer working for Starbucks. Ms. Alexis confirmed that leadership team would do everything to prevent terrible customer service of this kind from happening ever again and asked me not to consider this as their usual standard. At the end, she offered me $100 gift card and ensured they take it very seriously.

In this day and age, if you work in customer service, you're an idiot for blowing up like this. Given cell phones and social media, you cant get away with this shit no more. Its no longer, "He said, she said" or vice versa. Everything is on video and shit like this goes viral. Its bad publicity for the company. They will fire people like this in an instance in order to avoid bad publicity.

So true. I love these people that yell at others working somewhere like WalMart. They work at fucking walmart! They clearly missed out on their MBA. Of course working a cash register is hard, they work at fucking walmart. Give them a fucking break, they arnt sitting at home collecting tax money.

I always contact the manager / district manager / owner of a retail business anytime I have a less-than-stellar experience with an employee of theirs.

I don't think it's limited to customers, though. People who work behind the counter are just as likely to be assholes. I live in NY and one of the worst small scale experiences is dealing with MTA token booth clerks. I have a car and can take advantage of limited car service at work, plus my office is within walking distance. On top of that, subway stations have machines from which you can purchase your tickets that are only likely to be in service 50% of the time. So, I can go long periods of time without dealing with a token booth clerk, but almost 100% of the time, they go out of their way to be rude. I don't understand how so many rude people can work for one government agency in the same position.

I don't think it's a matter of dealing with the public, either.

Starbucks is vastly overrated anyway, so just go somewhere else instead of arguing with someone like that. Waste of time
