The avarge person has no idea what really trained infantry is capable of. But there are always those people that think there 30-30 is going to be able to defend against a bunch of training killers with years of training and a unlimited spend budget

If ANY group of trained and heavily armed soldiers confront as you put it "country boys" or something like that, you are correct assuming civilian failure.

If you're saying if the military goes into takeover mode country-wide...I think a different outcome may result.  Just refer to any revolutionary government takeover to see that it can be done...
