Lol, both were hurt for a brief period in those fights. As a matter of fact, both would have lost if they wouldn't have taken the fight to the ground.  Which is why my prediction was correct. They did not want to sit there, and trade with those guys.

Especially in the Cormier/Rumble fight. Johnson was outclassing him on the feet.

Show me when Cormier was hurt , because he went  down doesn't mean  he was  hurt , he got up ,legs were fine ,eyes were fine  , I don't know WTF are you talking about.

Weidman was never in trouble.

We agree to disagree then  :-*  My opinion still stands. Both would have lost those fights if it stayed on the feet. They are tough, smart fighters, and did what they had to do to win.

Vitor shamed all black belts, and Rumble needs to remember that this is not kickboxing. You have to know how to defend yourself on the ground.

How about Weidman and Cormier are better mixed martial artists.  Both have plenty of KO's and TKO's in their records so they can throw.

Agree that Weidman and Cormier need to weather an early storm, try and take them down or press up against the cage until they tire.  Arlovski should have retired, he has been knocked out too many times.  And fighting a guy like Travis Browne is a bad move IMO, that guy throws with bad intentions, hopefully Browne will hopefully retire Arlovski with a brutal KO.  And Dodson should also be a fight worth watching, dude is a natural athlete, pity we don't have a heavyweight that fights the way he does.  Uriah Hall fight should also be worth a watch.  I always feel Uriah is just about ready to move up a tier or two in the fight game, but he hasn't really lived up to the hype generated from The Ultimate Fighter, but he still has tons of potential.
Had it right about Weidman and Cormier strategy, was way off about Arlovski, although I missed that fight, I was at the gym.  Also a bit frustrated Uriah Hall lost, perhaps I am wrong about him, he might just be a one hit wonder, maybe his showing on the Ultimate Fighter was his best and it's all down hill from there.  Maybe he is just too nice a guy.

Rumble is so dangerous.. I'm sure the Blackzilians will improve his condition & wrestling, DC could do better vs Jones now that Cain is back as DC's sparring partner, he wasn't there for DC last time.

Vitor could have cracked Weidman if he punched the body more, that takedown saved him. Weidman has holes, Jacare and Rockhold could crack Weidman.

I predict the same thing to happen in the next fight, only Cormier wont be able to survive Rumble's onslaught.

And no gas tank. The two title fights went exactly like I thought they would. Belfort and Rumble had dangerous flurries, and both Weidman and Cormier survived, and stuck to what they do best.

There is a lesson to be learned.

Bigmc, I was right about how the fights played out stylisticly, and the proper gameplans for Weidman and Cormier to win (survive the early storm, dont stand and bang with them)

I went with who I wanted to win (Rumble) and I picked wrong. Still, the fights played out like I thought they would, except I was banking on Johnson to be able to put Cormier away.

good card.

cowboy vs bull horrible matchup for bull.
arlovski i was way off with that one, brownes punches were pretty sloppy really gave a lot of openings for that but credit to arlovski.
vitor vs weidman its funny they still throw the "he's a bjj black belt" like its relevant... when are these people gonna learn that wrestling is superior to bjj?
johnson vs cormier, good fight not sure why johnson feels he needs to throw any kicks at all, he's got superior hands and that should be enough, oh well.

Rumble has been exposed. He had that fear factor going for him, and now you could see why he can beat the majority of the fighters at LHW. He fearlessly stalks you down, and tries to beat you senseless.

Cormier is one of the few guys who can match him strength wise. If you take him down and grind on him, he loses his advantage, and eventually gases/folds.  People used to say that Rumble would gas because he used to try to cut too much weight to fight at 170. Now, people realize that his cardio just sucks regardless.

He will always be a threat to anyone though. One wrong move, and he can put your lights out.

no shame in getting taken down by cormier though, i thought his defense looked pretty good for the most part. and his cardio, well it kinda depends on that first or second round, he spent a whole lot of energy in the first round... and i guess carrying around cormier on your back really saps your strength.
maybe if he wouldve thrown no kicks and paced himself a little better... went a little too wild against cormier... i'd say a lot of people wouldnt have recovered from that punch he gave cormier in the first round...

good fight since it was no clear indication who wouldve won...

These guys really need to understand what mixed martial arts means. Some of these guys are fantastic stand-up fighters, but they appear to be almost clueless when it goes to the mat. Someone with better submissions, would have taken Rumble out within a few minutes.

And we all know that Rumble probably doesn't even think about trying any submissions of his own. Is so frustrating to watch, when a guy is overmatched on the ground. Everytime Rumble was on his feet, I got excited, until Cormier inevitably took him down again, and then I just rolled my eyes in disgust.

At least a guy like Chuck Liddell possessed a fantastic takedown defense. Johnson's next camp should be nothing but Sprawling.

You tell'em Shizzo, I agree, Johnson has been fighting in the UFC for 10 years and he still doesn't understand the meaning of MMA.

exactly che

shizzos forensic break down of these guys is exposing their glaring weaknesses

even though shizzo completely called the Johnson fight wrong saying he would blast cormier away

his critique of the lucky rookie Johnson really highlights his total lack of an all round mma game

he must have just been lucky when he stopped the Olympic level wrestler phil davis keeping him on the ground

Haha yes  Bigmc ,   Johnson  is  'clueless on the mat'  and he has no idea how to sprawl ,   he was very lucky when he won a college national wrestling championship

Rumble hit Cormier with a huge shot at the beginning and DC took it.

He didn't have wobbly legs for the entire fight like Travis Browne...that was the price he was going to pay to get through the first minute with Rumble to grapple.

After that and literally a couple minutes of Cormier working him against the cage and laying on him the fight was over.

Rumble was broken and gassed in like 3 minutes.

When AJ first came up I thought was going to be champ in just a few fights(like Bones). Physical specimen and huge for the weight class...

Nevermind the cardio - he has the heart and brain of a child. He will not recover.
