I love Dave Ramsey.  I got his book total Money Makeover years ago. Great book.  I listen to him on the radio occasionally these days.

Years ago me and wife went through the financial peace university and it was awesome. We eliminated most of our debt except my truck, boat and mortgages on both homes. The truck and boat will be payed off within 4 months. We payed off our CC's and cut them up but we keep them open.

I'm actually listening to his podcast right now.  8)

I've read total money makeover and entreleadsrship.

I remember when you bought your truck on payments I told you not to because Dave ramsey would not approve and you didn't listen.  :D

The guy just talks common sense... something that many people do not have.

The bad thing about Ramsey is that he's a shill for bankers, financial companies and Wall St.  This is not good.  He is promoting usury.

Who the fuck finances a car at anything over 5%?  Seriously, I've never had a bank or dealership offer me anything over 5%, it's always been under.   ???

Coach, how do u and ramsey feel about leases? We could afford to pay cash for a car but decided to not drain our account and leased a nicer one instead. Her company gives her like 1k a month for car allowance which covers gas, insurance, upkeep, and lease payment. We have no debt other than mortage

I feel the same way. I would rather not use the cash. I have no problem with leases as long as you stay within the lease miles then I think it's around .20 a mile after that.

Those that mean you're no longer a member of team 3CC's?

Dave Ramsey is very much against leases!  This example he would say it's great she gets a car allowance but what happens when she loses her job and is stuck in the fleece?

People just getting started or have lousy credit are the ones guilty of that.
They need a car and don't have much money saved.

Dave is right about what to do in the long run.

I'm not anywhere near poor by most people's standards, but I have long felt that I am taxed enough already.

Debt is a necessary evil for most of us when we're young. But the goal should eventually be to get debt free eventually, not to just borrow more and more as you get older in order to keep up with the Joneses.

I had a 2004 Durango (that I loved) and the engine finally went south. I got my truck because we needed another vehicle. The Durango has been paid off since 2006. Sucks to have another payment but the truck has almost all of the amenities as the C or CLS but more practical (for me). Replaced the engine in the Durango and gave it to my son.
