GetBiggers... anyone use this device before?
« on: May 24, 2015, 01:19:00 PM »
http://easyviewtv.com/index.html

Supposed to put all cable stations, movies and PPVs at your fingertips instantly with no monthly charge.  Just $300 for the box.

I saw a demo today and they actually FF7 and Avengers : Age Of Ultron on it.  The guy was playing the latest episode of Game of Thrones on it this morning before it even aired (which is tonight).

Anyone used this or something similar?

Yeah.  Exactly.  Makes me wonder what will happen if I shell out $300 and it is shut down in two weeks.

But I am going to get a loaner tomorrow to try out.  He said I could try one for five days and if I liked it, pay for it.  If not just bring it back to the store.

I'm guessing a better financial decision would be investing that $300 with Groink.

LOL!!!  Yeah, it does.

Well I guess I can try it for free and see how it is.  Would be a pisser if it was all new shit this week and then I bought it and next week it went out of biz or never had updated content again.

It's obviously not legal, if you lose the $300 you deserve it.

Its a huge scam.  Its just an ARM Cortex computer that shows links to videos on youtube and vimeo.  Don't buy that.  You can get a more powerful device for about 34.00  dollars

About 8 years ago there was a company out of Chicago can't remember their name. Black box $275 descrambled the signal from the satellite. Got every pay per view event and every channel that Comcast offered. Only needed basic cable. Lasted for about a year till they scrambled the signal again.

Brilliant marketing ploy. Buy a generic android tablet on eBay for $20 and add a bunch of bookmarks to Movietube and other free streaming sites and sell it for $300. Goodrum, are you listening?

That may be.  He just arrived with it.  I haven't hooked it up yet, but at first glance...

Very sturdy made.
VERY short HDMI and power cable.  Like.... 12 inches.  WTF?  Would never work with my set up as all my components are 10 feet away from where my tv floats on the wall.

Probably a retractable power cord.  The release can get a little sticky on those.  Just put a foot on the unit and give the cord a good strong pull.

That's worked for me on many occasions.

Ok, so here is a few pics and a review of this.

First off, their website is a fucking joke.  Worse than IKEA instructions.  The insert in the box isn't much help either.  If this guy didn't already know how to use it, I would have been frustrated as hell with trying to figure it out.

To use it, you select Genesis, Movie World, etc.. on their home screen.  Then you select Movies or TV.  You browse through listings like Horror, New Releases, In Theaters Now, and several other categories, or you can type in a name in the search box.  Once you get what you are looking for, they will present you with a list of options of where to get it from.  You can choose to download it for later or you can stream it where it start immediately.

We chose Mad Max : Fury Road.   Choose the first listing that showed up (it had the most downloads) and chose to stream it immediately.  It was in Dutch.  Ugggh..  There is no way to tell what you have until it starts.  But even then, we backed out, picked another and voila! we were off in a minute or two.

You have a choice of three resolution qualities.  Low, Medium and High.  I chose Medium and the quality was a 7.   Then again, this was a film with all kind of fucking dust and dirt in it so the quality could have been higher but I didn't take that into consideration.

Next we chose a random episode of Deadwood so we could play the Al Sweargin drinking game that was a staple of that series.  (I had a pool party going).
The resolution here was Medium and the picture quality was an easy 8.

This morning I watched the latest episode of GoT.  Again, I chose resolution as Medium and the picture was a 10. Crystal clear.  I was really impressed.  It was already HD quality.  I will watch the episode again in the High resolution format to see what (if any) difference is there.

The disadvantages to this are what I have already mentioned :
*short ass connecting cables (yeah you can buy longer ones but you shouldn't have to)
*language is not stated for movies (minor issue as you simply back out and choose another)
*subtitles are available for about half the listings (if you are hard of hearing or use it when the kids are asleep it may be an issue.  Not for most)
*learning to use it can be a pain unless you have someone to show you, the directions are horrendous
*the price of $300 is a bit steep.  Even if they do throw in a free $50 remote with it
