Nope, not a better athlete in a basketball sense, his lateral movement, first step, vertical jump off a hop step, vertical jump off 2 feet gather, vertical off 1 leg, full court and half court quickness and speed, hand eye coordination, strength, agility, hand speed, explosiveness, is unrivalled in a single package.You can link me to a player by video that shows a better package of all the above if you can find it, but you wont.

Lebron is the best athlete that I've ever seen.  His combination of size, strength, speed, and vertical jump is nuts.  He's just physically dominant.  Otherworldly athleticism.  He obviously has the genes but in my opinion he is on some serious drugs as well.  High end shit.  

MJ was still the better basketball player and I seriously doubt he was using anything.

All time great, one of the best ever but not the GOAT.

No one has won without Hall of Famers, except for the Billups/Wallace Piston team and maybe Dirk.

LeBron  lost with the 3rd best shooting guard of all time as his wing man. There's no question he has carried some mediocre teams, and made journeymen household names but down playing Jordans accomplishments to further LeBron 's legacy is a sad troll attempt Earl.

Starks wouldn't have shut down LeBron, but he didn't stop Reggie Miller either. Starks was a 6'4 guard, he wasn't a defensive stopper anyhow,  he was a CBA star who got the green light to shoot the ball, and wasn't afraid to keep shooting (see his finals against Houston where Marv Albert begged him to stop shooting). For the record nobody today is locking down James anyhow, nor would anyone from the past.

Would a Jordan lead team lost to a Maverick squad lead by Dirk, Jason Terry, Tysons Chandler and JJ Barea?  The Bulls could have also split titles with Duncan.

Agreed. However Kidd was Kidd in name only at that time,  and Starks wasn't a legendary defender ( I know he got a second team all NBA-D team nod in 92/93 but so did Dan Majerle ).

LeBron talent and athleticism is unmatched, especially at his size. But so is Russell Westbrooks (and before his injuries so was Derrick Rose). Larry Bird was no athlete when compared to these guys and for that matter neither was Magic Johnson (Im talking athletic freak) or Step Curry today, but they are all GREAT, HISTORIC  players.

When it comes to defense there is something that a lot of people lose sight of.  Most fans focus on things like whether a guy is a lock down individual defender, or the length and athleticism of defenders, or rule changes like hand checking.  However, in the NBA(especially in the playoffs) team defense is what counts, not individuals defenders.  You can be the best defender of all time but it isn't going to matter if your team has a bad defensive scheme.  You'll be even worse off if your teammates are slow to rotate and miss assignments.
