i have done this in the winter, put some hot water in the protein, shaken it up and the air pressure pops the top off and the mixture goes everywhere. never did it with boiling water though.

Actually, just a couple of drops of dish soap, (washing-up liquid for the Britons), a dish cloth, and hot water out of the sink tap is all the sanitation that cup needs.

What was he sanitizing it from? Two seconds after he washes it and it sits in the sink or cupboard, it will have the same bacteria it had when it was sitting in a warehouse.
