just goes to show how much more popular and mainstream bodybuilding was in the late 70's and early 80's
you had arnold, zane and mentzer all three were highly popular and widely known, you could say after that guard was done.
the sport got less and less popular, lets be real here, haney was not that popular and didnt have much fan fare. yes he won 8 olympias
but outside the small cult fallowing, not many peopole knew who he was. this all goes to the bigger is better mentality that overtook the
judging. i would even venture to say that samir was the last olympia winner who had a beautiful build on him after that all down hill
ever since. dorian took over for haney in the more is better department, i wonder how the sport would be today if the judges had
awared the title to someone such as flex wheeler, lee priest of even shawn ray.
