They had natural grass in the Commonwealth Stadium for a long time. There were many CFL playoff games that were ruined because of playing on built up ice in November. It's the same reason why they hardly ever play the Superbowl in an open air stadium.
And in the long run, it was cheaper to buy field turf than it was to maintain/replace the grass due to harsh weather year after year.
At least they are still playing in an open air stadium.

The average soccer player covers around 7-10km so any excess weight is going to be a disadvantage - you gotta to stay relatively small and lean in order to avoid gassing out. But in terms of overall health and fitness, I think it's probably the best sport to play.

Yeah, the overly groomed, metrosexual players can look douchey but that's just the style now – and chicks love it. Trust me, in Europe and around the world; soccer players plough some of the hottest super models on a regular basis. I wish I was good enough to become one. :D

Obviously wealth is the biggest factor. Even the ugly ones get model wives/gf's. However, it's the metrosexual style of the others which draws woman's attention and turns them as much into celebrities as sportsmen. In the UK, every girl I've known had the hots for at least one soccer player.
