You're a bodybuilder when you:

-join some bodybuilding organization
-pay your contest entry fee
-stand on stage wearing a speedo

Until you do that, you're always simply a dude that works out- which is OK too.

I gotta disagree. You're a bodybuilder if you train with the purpose of building muscle and shaping your body. If you compete, that simply makes you a competitive bodybuilder.
