Can you expand a little on what makes the BMW better. People on here seem to think the S class is a way better car than the 7 series, but in my opinion it's an apples and oranges comparison in terms of what the cars were designed to do. What makes the BMW engine better than the Mercedes?
I think the styling of the Benz is probably superior. However, it is an innate, guttural issue with the two. When I get into my BMW even though it is a 4-door coupe essentially compared to a 2-door convertible, it feels faster, tighter response with steering, and your connection with the road is superior. The Benz is awesome but it just doesn't feel as tight on the road. To be fair to Bevo, I have yet to drive a S550 but it is an amazing looking vehicle.
I think that although the MB and BMW have similar HP, and despite the MB has more torque than the BMW, the BMW just feels quicker. It may be because the BMW has an 8-speed automatic vs the 7-speed automatic in the Benz. The 0-60 times for both are mid 4's which isn't too shabby. I love both cars, but I think C&D and R&T need to get the new BMW 7 series and pit it against the S550 to see if BMW has caught up or surpassed their Bavarian counterpart. Personally, it is almost would you rather take out Scarlet Johansson or Megan Fox; can't say either is a bad choice
