Mystifying the unknown is something ingrained in human DNA, though that's not really an excuse in this day and age where more information can be garnered from your cell phone than the greatest of libraries in ancient Rome.

If you enjoy these subjects, check out the ITER project, it's about as interesting as the LHC and, if it ever gets out of the mired red tape and bureaucracy, could vastly change our day to day lives and be a true turning point to our evolution as a species.

While I could certainly imagine that humans from tens of thousands of years ago if visited by an alien race with advanced technology perceived their technology as magic, I have yet to see any proof that it happened.

While that proof may currently not exist and there may certainly be some things that could be perceived as evidence making that case, I'll keep my opinion on subject matter as skeptical.

I don't rule out things simply because I disagree with them, I'm very open minded to the possibilities of alien races visiting earth, I just haven't seen hard proof of it.  So while not completely ruling out the possibility, I keep my focus on what can be proved unequivocally.
