Yup. Fuck the credit card. Derek Jeter should walk around with $100K cash in pockets at all time.
Well, if he's actually spending $100k a day he's stupid and will eventually be broke.
I don't quite make his kind of money, but I rarely spend more than a couple hundred bucks or so in a typical day. I guess that's the smart financial planner in me. Unlike most pro athletes, I fully expect to still be worth 8 zeros when I'm 60.
If I'm going on vacation or something, I'll of course spend more. Otherwise, I've usually got $100-200 in cash in my wallet and that credit card with that pretty high credit limit that I rarely use more than 1-2 times a month if I'm gonna spend more.
I've also got debit cards, but I rarely use them. I'm not into "rewards" for spending my money constantly everywhere, or swiping my cards everywhere so that my info goes all over the place and makes it much easier for some basement dwelling chink to clean out my accounts. I go to my bank for a check for any major purchase, and I guess otherwise I'm just not into spending thousands of dollars a day. I've always gotten off more on saving and investing the money I've worked hard for. I spend a weekend at a casino and never gamble, for instance. But that's just me.
