A shame that you have to be a slave to other people's ignorance.
Don't really consider myself a slave - I could easily retire today. But I still greatly enjoy what I do... and it's very, very rewarding and frankly not that difficult anymore.
I'm a capitalist. Marketing, public relations, image, etc - these things have to matter to just about anyone who does well or expects to do well. If I could have found a way to make a consistent high income year after year without having to care at all about what anyone on earth thinks or how I'm perceived, or without having to follow any rules or regs a decade or 2 ago, perhaps I'd be a
little less image-conscious.
As for the Confederate flag itself, that's just really not me and not who I am. I've always known a few people here and there who had flags on their big 4WD pickups with the 350 or bigger engines, the dual exhaust, roll bar, etc, wearing their cowboy hats, wranglers, boots, etc - that's just not me. No more than hiphop or tattoos, piercings, and long hair are me either.
Maybe there are people who fly the flag publicly these days who don't fit those stereotypes. One of my grandfathers flew it along with the American flag outside his house for many years until he died a decade or so ago. But I don't seem to come across any who don't fit the stereotype these days who publicly wear it, fly it outside, or have it on their cars.
I demand the right to fly or wear such a flag, but I don't really have any desire to actually do so whatsoever. And it's not good for business anyway.
