I was around 19yo. Reading the gay magazines like muscle and fitness. My friend asked me if I was gay when he saw me reading them, and I was like "wtf is he on about..."

I realized pretty early that I had a thing for "fit"

women (no shmoemo), so I had to go to their natural habitat: the gym. Once there, I thought that I might as well keep busy and I simultaneously realized that they seemed to like a more muscular man. One thing led to another and here I am 30+ years later.

Loved Arnie as a kid and always had an interest in muscular, strong men (no homo) from a admiration standpoint.
In terms of pro-BB, I only took an interest in it when I was around 18.

Started weights and wanting to be bigger when I was 14 but the likes of Arnold or some of the blokes on the wrestling were the inspiration, never followed pro bodybuilding till I was 16 or so

i was 6 years old and saw steve reeves in hercules , i wanted to train to be able to tear temples down too... later when i was 10 i was on the beach at ac and some muscle tool was walking around the beach flexing and such he had a bunch of girls with him so i thought hmmmmmm [ no homo] not that there's anything wrong with it.

Ahh, the "Golden Age" where women dug muscles with abandon.

Now it's all about the metro-, lunberjack-, beta-sexual twinks.

If women express interest in muscle, they do it in complete anonymity or privacy.

I got caught in the bodybuilding cult when I was just a young lad and I learned that Basile did not have his blue stars ever since. I have been fighting to promote this issue ever since.

It was around the same time for me and I was 18 in 1977.
I trained as a bodybuilder for a year and then entered my 1st show back in 1978.
I thought I had a real shot to win the teen div ( age 19) until I arrived and saw the competition LOL.

First it was action movies with martial artists like Van Damme and actions stars like Sly and Arnold.

That lead into gym training at the tender age of 14 around 1998. I downloaded and saw Pumping Iron when the internet made everything easy accessible.

I started noticing Ronnie in magazines of a friend around 2000, the new Mr O at that time. Thought he was way too big, but still intruiging to see him train. Remember thinking his arms were similar to Arnolds, with the peaks.

Grew up watching Arnie films. There was no Internet and I didn't give a shit about magazines, so the closest thing for me was those and watching WSM each year.

It was like discovering a whole new Arnie when I learnt about his pre Hollywood life (a little homo).

I started really noticing pro bodybuilding... probably when I was about 20.
